After hearing this, Uther pondered briefly, then nodded at Rod in agreement.
Rod did not stand on ceremony. He immediately jumped down from above. The pit was roughly four or five meters deep; with an ordinary Earthling's physical condition, jumping down would leave one dead or half-crippled.
But Rod's body was no longer that of an ordinary Earthling. After crossing into this world, Rod discovered that his hero attributes had not enhanced his physical qualities!
Instead, they enhanced his magical power and bolstered his troops. So why had his physical condition improved? It was because he had used the power of the Holy Light.
Over more than a month since crossing over, Rod had discovered that every time he used the power of the Holy Light, a portion of it entered his body and strengthened it.
Rod had asked Uther and the other paladins about this. They all said it was a blessing from the Holy Light.
Most of the first-generation paladins had actually been priests. The reason they possessed physical strength more terrifying than warriors who had trained for years was entirely due to the blessing of the Holy Light.
The more one summoned the Holy Light and let it baptize one's body, the more benefits there were.
It had to be said that among the six primordial forces of the Warcraft universe, the forces of Life and Holy Light truly had their ways.
"Since it is the guardians' will, Rod, use my warhammer to destroy it! The Silver Hand Warhammer should be able to eradicate this monster completely." Uther handed the Silver Hand Warhammer to Rod.
Now that he had become the master of the Silver Hand Warhammer, Rod could temporarily use this Titan Keepers weapon with his permission.
"Thank you, Lord Uther." Rod did not hesitate. He took Uther's Silver Hand Warhammer and summoned the power of the Holy Light. The Silver Hand Warhammer shone with a crimson-white radiance tinged with a trace of golden power.
Under Zakaz's vicious glare, Rod swung the hammer down at its head. A powerful burst of Holy Light completely shattered the monster before him.
A long-lost notification sounded in Rod's mind!
A glorious victory. You have gained 12,000 experience points. Congratulations, Hero has reached Level 6. Congratulations, Hero has reached Level 7. You have gained 2 bonus attribute points.
This time, Rod did not put them all into Knowledge. He added one point to Power and one point to Knowledge.
His mana had reached 70. Combined with his mana recovery methods, Blessing of Wisdom, Arcane Intellect, and Meditation, that was enough.
His Power had reached 4. Magic Arrow now dealt 50 damage, while summoning elements allowed him to summon eight of them. Converted into Holy Light Elementals, he could summon four.
Your Eagle Eye has taken effect. You have learned the Shadow Magic spell Shadow Lash. It consumes 0.5 mana to form a massive tentacle condensed from shadow power, which lashes out at enemies.
Zakaz was indeed formidable, but it had used very few Shadow Magic spells. It had always fought with its physical body, and of the few Shadow Magic spells it had cast, Rod had only stolen one with Eagle Eye.
After gaining two levels in a row, Rod had also gained two opportunities to choose skill upgrades. At present, he possessed Intermediate Necromancy, Intermediate Eagle Eye, and Intermediate Earth Magic.
Hopefully this time I get something worthwhile. Don't give me another trash skill. I've already rolled trash skills three times in a row.
Please choose Advanced Earth Magic or Basic Intelligence.
Advanced Earth Magic or Basic Intelligence—this choice gave Rod a bit of a headache.
Intelligence was an excellent skill. It could be said to be essential for magic heroes.
Even at the basic level, it increased a hero's maximum mana by 25%; at the intermediate level, by 50%; and at the advanced level, by 100%.
That was an enormous boost. After pondering for a moment, Rod chose Intelligence. Once this skill appeared, whether in reality or in the game, it was an instant pick with no drawbacks whatsoever.
His mana increased by 25%, immediately reaching 87. After casting Blessing of Wisdom, it could exceed 92. Only with this much mana did he have any real sense of security!
The second skill upgrade offered Advanced Eagle Eye and Basic Logistics. This time, a miracle from the game had appeared—Logistics!
If this were the game, Rod would have chosen it with almost no hesitation. In Heroes of Might and Magic III, moving quickly was an advantage.
The advantage of Logistics was simply enormous.
But in reality, Rod could store his troops in the system, and whenever battle was needed, he could also move quickly through mage teleportation techniques.
There was simply no chance to run around with troops. Thus, a miracle skill in the game was rather useless in reality. In contrast, once Eagle Eye reached the advanced level, it had a 60% chance of learning spells below Level 4, making it much more useful in Azeroth.
Rod chose to upgrade Eagle Eye to Advanced Eagle Eye. With the Orb of the Firmament, his own Eagle Eye specialty, and the skill itself, he now had at least an 80% chance of stealing an opponent's magic.
He could practically steal a spell in every battle. What a pity—none of the other schools of magic he had been longing for, nor Wisdom, had appeared.
And next came the main event. The Faceless One Zakaz alone had provided 12,000 experience points.
Rod was greatly looking forward to the outdoor structures this fellow might drop.
After killing the Faceless One Zakaz, Rod obtained two special outdoor rewards: an outdoor barracks and a Basic Magic Shrine.
The outdoor barracks was completely random, while the Basic Magic Shrine allowed a hero carrying a spellbook to go there and copy down a spell, equivalent to gaining another opportunity to learn magic.
Rod immediately ordered Skeletor in the town to leave the city and check out the Basic Magic Shrine.
You have discovered a Basic Magic Shrine. In exchange for your protection, the apprentice priest inside has agreed to teach you a simple spell. Congratulations, your hero Skeletor has learned the Level 1 Water Magic spell Heal! 6 mana. Removes the effects of negative magic from a selected friendly unit and restores Power × 5 + 10 health. Does not resurrect units.
Basic Water Magic reduced mana consumption by one. Intermediate Water Magic added 20 health, while Advanced Water Magic allowed all troops to benefit from the effect.
Heal could not resurrect units. Honestly, its effect was similar to a paladin's Holy Light ability, except it consumed far more.
But the key was that it could dispel negative magical effects, which was extremely useful.
Moreover, unlike Holy Light, Heal could treat other non-living units, such as undead, elementals, demons, and Iron Golems.
Rod planned to test this spell's effects later, then turned his attention to the outdoor troop reward: an utterly crude little tent—the Refugee Camp!
Holy shit! This is a god-tier structure! Archangels! Black Dragons! Ancient Behemoths! Titan daddies!
Though it was called a Refugee Camp, it could randomly provide any troop type. With good luck, it was simply invincible!
