Hearing Hawkeye's words, Captain America instantly recalled Natasha's stern, teacher-like gaze, brimming with boundless resentment, back when they were next door to Sherlock's house.
Captain America shuddered violently. He braced a hand against the table to steady himself, then forced an awkward smile and said to Hawkeye,
"It shouldn't come to that, right? Probably..."
The only response he received was utter silence.
Meanwhile, once Sherlock realized that he had merely gotten drunk last night and hadn't actually done anything—at most, he had dragged Captain America into a fight with a tiger, nothing truly outrageous; well, he could only be considered an accomplice at worst—he headed toward the hotel.
Still, as he entered the hotel building, Sherlock couldn't help feeling a little guilty.
After dragging his feet all the way to the room Tony had booked, he spent a good while mentally preparing himself before finally raising a hand to knock.
The instant his first knock sounded, Sherlock heard a flurry of footsteps inside. A moment later, someone flung the door open.
To Sherlock's surprise, what greeted him when the door opened wasn't the storm of fury he had imagined, but Helen's warm embrace.
"Oh my God, Sherlock, you're finally back! We haven't been able to reach any of you all day!"
Hearing the worry in Helen's voice, Sherlock patted her back. Only after she released him, pulled him into the room, and closed the door did he realize something was wrong.
Pepper, Black Widow, Anna, Mindy, and Helen, who had just pulled Sherlock inside, were all standing by the door. Pepper and Black Widow in particular looked absolutely furious.
"Sherlock Flamel! Do you idiots have any idea how much trouble you caused last night? My God, I've spent the entire day running around cleaning up your damned mess!"
