Mission Rewards

Wu Pifu, Yamadai, and Xu Shilan arrived at Gao Changgong's guild.

The guild had expanded again, taking over the land where two neighboring buildings stood. It had also grown three stories taller, and was starting to look like a proper office building.

"...Your guild is getting bigger and bigger." Wu Pifu walked into the guild building's lounge on his own.

Yamadai made himself at home as well. After entering the lounge, he grabbed a bottle of liquor and swiped a box of cigars from the counter, then sat on the sofa smoking and drinking by himself.

Gao Changgong said to Wu Pifu, "It's only because your ambitions lie elsewhere. Otherwise, with your strength and reputation, forget a mere Transcendent guild—even gathering all of humanity's Transcendents under your command would be no problem."

Several others in the lounge silently nodded in agreement.

This was Wu Pifu, after all—one of humanity's only three Superbrains, one of humanity's current three pillars. And according to vague rumors that had only recently spread, Wu Pifu had solo-killed four Sources!

Only slightly stronger Transcendents understood just how terrifying that carried weight was.

Wu Pifu's ambitions naturally lay elsewhere.

He now understood why he differed so greatly from other Superbrains, particularly in terms of "great talent and grand strategy." Other Superbrains were indeed still influenced by resonance with the Corpse of the Source, possessing an innate capacity for great undertakings or ideas that could guide human civilization.

But he was different. His Superbrain came from himself, and he simply did not possess that obsession with humanity's civilization as a whole.

At that moment, Xu Shilan sat down beside Wu Pifu and looked around. "But Uncle Gao is right. Before, you were alone. You only had yourself to worry about. But that probably won't work from now on.
