After spending a day getting things in Hell's Kitchen back in order, Alvin found there wouldn't be any major problems. He then set off for Washington, bringing Boz Hale, the Kindergarten's security guard, along with him.

The strange ability this guy had made it impossible for any brainwashed Hydra agents to hide.

Alvin had no idea how much trouble Alexander Pierce's final struggle had caused the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

No agents had clean hands, and S.H.I.E.L.D. was no exception.

When their past dirty work was made public, it put the agents who weren't Hydra in an awkward position.

Even if they surrendered, and Alvin gave them a certificate proving they weren't Hydra, they still couldn't escape prison. That was the tragedy of being an agent—especially an agent who'd already been abandoned!

By the time Alvin drove to Washington, Natasha and Steve were arguing with several imposing officials at the gates of S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, which looked like a ruin.

As Alvin got out of the car with Boz Hale, he heard Steve's angry voice. "You can't just do whatever you want with these agents. They're not Hydra. They didn't back down during the battle..."

A burly brigadier general with slicked-back hair and a square jaw looked at Steve and said sternly, "This is procedure. S.H.I.E.L.D. planned a terrorist attack in the capital of the United States. We have to take over.

"Besides, a lot of what they've done has now been posted online, and none of it was legal."

The brigadier general glanced at Natasha and sneered. "The only reason you're standing here talking to me is that Secretary of State William Hurt vouched for you. He wants to give you a chance to explain yourself.

"But that's no reason to let the lawbreaking agents here off the hook.
