The battle in Sokovia ended quickly!
When Steve ordered the air carrier's guns turned around to help the mercenaries wipe out the Hydra forces, everything began counting down to the end.

Inside the castle, Steve and Bucky searched the place twice, fully armed, only to discover there was no one left alive.
In what looked like a command center, someone had written on the wall, "The best soldiers are all old men!"
Steve looked at the baffled Bucky with amusement and said, "That's the kind of humor we lacked back then."
As he spoke, Steve glanced at the scattered chunks of bodies strewn across the floor. He gave a bitter smile. "Maybe we were a little behind when it came to cruelty, too!"
Bucky expressionlessly bent down to examine the computer in the command room. He found that its hard drive had been removed and the computers had been "destroyed" with high-explosive bullets.
"They didn't capture Baron Strucker. What do we do now?"
Steve looked at Bucky and smiled with satisfaction. "Wait...
Hydra can't stay underground forever. They'll have to come out eventually and stir things up.
And 'tracking' isn't our specialty. Someone else will track them down.
We just need to pick up our guns and go after them when the time is right..."
As he spoke, Steve looked at Bucky and gave him a somewhat bitter smile. "I always thought my fighting days were over, but now it looks like there's still a long road ahead!"
Bucky nodded impassively, then held out his metal arm. "I have a feeling this isn't over. It'll go on for a long time!"
