Alvin saw the chaos in the American camp and lost any desire to go in and look for General Ross.
With Zhang Qiang right beside him, Alvin told him that once the war began, Steve would be in charge here. Anyone who refused to follow orders would be shot.
Zhang Qiang showed no sign of resistance. In fact, he was glad that Alvin was finally showing a little more "maturity."
The Gun Club already had enough of its own problems to give anyone a headache, and there was nothing here for them to gain.
If Alvin could take over security here completely, Zhang Qiang would be happy to hand the job back to him.
Zhang Qiang's easy agreement pleased Alvin. As he was leaving, he hesitated, then pulled out a fist-sized piece of Dragon Bone and tossed it to Zhang Qiang. "This is the payment I promised Lin Shaoqing. I don't know what you want to use him for, but Lin Shaoqing... How should I put it?"
Zhang Qiang gave Alvin a meaningful look. "Lin Shaoqing is a pawn, and he's willing to be one. That's why the Gun Club indulges him so much.
"He's not a bad person, really. His 'ambition' is just his way of trying to become a more valuable pawn."
As he spoke, Zhang Qiang tossed the Dragon Bone in his hand and shook his head with a sigh. "Personally, he gets on my nerves sometimes, but he really is someone worth pitying.
"I hope this piece of Dragon Bone helps him fulfill his wish!"
Alvin hesitated for a long while before asking, "Is your goal Kunlun?"
A warm smile suddenly appeared on Zhang Qiang's face. "What I'm about to tell you is the most closely guarded secret. Are you sure you want to hear it?"
