Alvin stared at Castle as if he were some kind of genius.
With only a little media coverage to go on, the guy had turned a simple bank robbery into a high-IQ heist with a mystery at its heart.
And somehow, what he said actually made a little sense!
What the robbers were after mattered.
Thanks to the media, the bank's background was quickly dug up.
It was the Los Angeles branch of a private trust bank. The bank held less than five million dollars in cash, but it had the most advanced security system and anonymous safe deposit boxes.
The media guessed that the trust bank's main business was actually laundering money for the Mafia, while also serving as a place to store valuables.
Anyone could apply for a safe deposit box. As long as you paid the annual fee of five thousand dollars, it would remain yours.
Each box had two keys, one held by the bank and the other by the customer. To open it, both keys had to be used along with the customer's fingerprints and iris scan.
Of course, you could always blow it open with explosives, but whatever was inside would probably be damaged.
If Castle was right, the robbers had forced Anthony to come along because they wanted to open his safe deposit box. What was inside was anyone's guess.
But Alvin still couldn't understand what anyone could want from a Crime Boss who'd gotten himself thrown into prison.
Castle's so-called ledger "Umbrella" sounded like pure fantasy to Alvin.
The old man didn't have many years left. If he had an "Umbrella," why hadn't he used it already? Why let himself get sent to prison?
Listening to Castle spin a story about "Vengeance," Alvin stared at him in amazement. "Man, no wonder you
