Brian stepped through the Space Gate with a worn-out look on his face, then glanced around and started making phone calls.

Alvin looked at Brian's haggard face and was just about to say something when gasps came from the Television. Something had happened to both the Bus and the bank...

The Bus sped south for about fifty kilometers before entering a neighborhood that looked like a wasteland.

Many people had gathered there in tents, and when the Bus arrived, they were lined up to collect food from a makeshift kitchen.

The scene was bizarre, and it was easy to compare it to refugee camps in war-torn countries in the Middle East. But the people lining up to collect food clearly weren't refugees.

Considering the ruined neighborhood, it was easy to tell that these people were locals.

What was surprising, though, was that the Aliens had wreaked havoc on Los Angeles, so why hadn't the government taken any measures to help? Why were they letting residents live in tents amid the ruins? It seemed completely at odds with the image the United States projected to the world.

The instant the Bus entered the neighborhood, several large black bags were thrown out.

Two muffled BOOMS rang out, and a huge amount of cash scattered through the air. The people waiting in line for food went wild.

The police cars and news vans following the Bus were blocked by the crowd, but the Television footage still showed the Bus tossing out money as it drove along. Like Christmas presents, the bills caused a sensation throughout the neighborhood.

Alvin and the others could see clearly through the cameras on the Bus. The people inside didn't look like kidnappers holding
