Alvin had never seen Stark discuss the children's futures with him so seriously before.
He drove along the empty highway for more than ten minutes, then smiled and shook his head. "I don't know what you mean by 'safety net.'

As he spoke, Alvin took out a cigar, lit it, and drew on it. Then he smiled and said, "Letting the kids grow up freely is the best 'safety net.' Everything else is just empty talk.
"I've never worried about Steel Digital going under, because even if it did, my kids wouldn't have to suffer over money.
"Compared to their physical safety, I care more about their emotional well-being.
"You can wait until the kids are adults before worrying about the things you just brought up.
