Alvin looked curiously at the confident, chubby Wang Yuan. "How can you help me?"
Then Alvin pointed at the highly sophisticated-looking Animus and said, "This thing can let me see my ancestors—or, you could say, my past life...
Can you do that too?"
Chubby Wang Yuan froze for a moment. He walked over to Alvin and inspected the Animus through the glass. "Your past life? That's impossible...
The human soul is complex. I believe in reincarnation, but I don't believe anyone can use science to 'see' a person's 'past life.'"
Stark shot a disdainful look at the overly categorical Wang Yuan. "This machine can trace genetic information and recreate past scenes in the human brain.
"I always thought the 'soul' was something abstract, or maybe just a string of electromagnetic signals. But this machine has made me realize that the soul must exist.
"And the soul must influence a person's genetic traits to some degree. This should be a new field of study in genetics.
"Does this machine help these Assassins trace their 'ancestors,' or does it uncover their former selves deep within their souls?
"I don't have a definitive answer yet. I need to bring in experts in this field and conduct experiments before I can find out."
Then Stark looked at Alvin. "If the soul really exists, how is genetic information passed down? Where exactly are those memories stored?
"If genes really can store information, are we the same people as our 'ancestors,' or are we two completely different individuals?
"We also discussed earlier that this machine might cause the subject to develop a split personality.
"I don't know why you're so interested in your 'past life,' but as your friend, I have to warn you...
"It might not matter for an ordinary person, but if something happens
