Peace Hotel 1
Natasha put on a shy smile. Looking at Foggy Nelson in front of her, she gracefully accepted his business card and said gratefully, "Thank you!
"I had no idea those two huge dogs were so fierce. Why did they want to attack me?"
Just as Foggy was about to speak, the blind young man beside him poked him in the lower back with his cane and urged, "We need to hurry. Alvin only makes fifty Teppanyaki Steaks a day. If we're late, there won't be any left."
Reminded of this, Foggy hurriedly nodded. "Right, right, we need to hurry.
"Sorry, miss, but we need to catch our very late dinner."
With that, Foggy quickly pushed open the door and called to the blind young man, "Hurry up, Matt. I don't want to miss Alvin's Teppanyaki Steak."
Having been ignored by the two young men again, Natasha found it very strange. A lot of things today had gone a little differently from what she had expected.
But that only made her more curious about what kind of place this was.
The two giant wolves blocking the entrance made forcing her way in clearly a bad idea. But as an agent, she always had plenty of options.
Natasha took out her phone and made a call, speaking in a panicked voice. "Hello, 911?
"I'm in Hell's Kitchen, Block 34. There are two giant wolves here, and they look like they're about to attack me. Please come save me quickly~"
About fifteen minutes later, a police car arrived, and two officers stepped out.
A middle-aged officer walked over to Natasha first and asked, "Miss, did you call the police? Where are the giant wolves you mentioned?"
Natasha was very surprised. The middle-aged officer had actually ignored the giant wolves right in front of him and come over to question her. Didn't he see that the younger officer had gone over to greet the two wolves?
Natasha frowned and said doubtfully, "Aren't those giant wolves? They nearly attacked me when I tried to enter this Restaurant just now." As she spoke, she pointed at the two wolves, who were impatiently chasing away the younger officer.
The middle-aged officer smiled. "Those aren't giant wolves. They're the pet dogs of the Peace Hotel's owner, and they're registered with our police department. They've never attacked anyone without cause. As for why they wanted to attack you... well, maybe you picked up some kind of scent."
As he spoke, he looked thoughtfully at Natasha. The old officer had caught an unusual scent from her.
Natasha gave an "Oh" and said, "Then if I want to go in, you two officers won't just stand by and watch me get attacked by these two... pet dogs, right?" She gave the middle-aged officer a meaningful look.
The middle-aged officer, who had some guesses about Natasha's identity, gave a bitter smile. "Of course you may go in. I guarantee Thor and Dom won't attack you. But I should remind you that the owner here, Alvin, is a good man."
Natasha smiled noncommittally, ignoring the warning in his words. She slightly raised her chin, signaling that she was going inside.
There were only six dining tables and two booths along the walls inside the Restaurant. They were already completely full. Foggy and Matt found two seats at the bar.
"Matt, why did we leave so quickly just now? It's hard enough to run into a gorgeous woman around here! Oh~ I forgot, you can't see." As soon as the chubby Foggy finished speaking, he noticed a delicate, petite girl behind the bar holding two glasses of lemonade, about to place them in front of them. But after hearing Foggy's words, she handed one of the glasses to a boy in a wheelchair behind the bar, who was reading a book.
The boy grinned, revealing the gap where two front teeth were missing, and said, "Thank you, Sister Jessica!" The other glass was placed in front of Matt, and the girl thoughtfully tapped the side of the glass, making it ring with a "ding~." She reminded Matt, "Your lemonade. The Teppanyaki Steak will be a little late today, so please wait a moment!"
After saying that, she shot Foggy another glare, then turned and left the bar to settle the bill for a table of departing customers.
Foggy protested, "Hey~ Jessie, you can't do that. Why don't I get a drink?" Then he turned to the little boy behind the bar. "Hey, buddy, that glass of lemonade in your hand should be mine. If you give it to me, Mr. Foggy Nelson will write you a letter of commendation."
The little boy made a Ghostface at Foggy, then picked up the lemonade and imitated people on TV drinking wine. He swirled it, sniffed it, then took a small, contented sip.
Good-natured Foggy comically bared his teeth and claws, pretending to threaten the boy. The big one and the little one began playing across the bar.
Matt smiled and shook his head, finding Foggy's carefree nature both helpless and amusing.
At the innermost end of the bar, against the wall, stood a stove with ten small burners. Wearing an apron, Alvin had his back to the bar as he tended to ten Teppanyaki Steaks cooking at once. Without turning around, he said, "Foggy, if you keep disturbing Mr. Nick Castle while he's reading, you can say goodbye to dinner tonight. Mr. Castle only got a D in math yesterday."
"Hey~ Alvin, we agreed you wouldn't tell anyone!" Nick waved his arms and shouted in protest.
Alvin did not turn around. Teasingly, he said, "Yes, we agreed that you'd quietly finish your homework in your room today, but you ran off to the Restaurant again."
Nick said somewhat guiltily, "You went out earlier, and Sister Jessie was alone. I wanted to come help." Then, remembering something, he held up the book in his hand and shook it. "Besides, I was just reading." He put on an expression that said he had been working very hard.
"Yes, Mr. Castle who loves reading, can the Batman in that book teach you how to bring home an A?" As he spoke, he used specially made iron tongs to pick up a finished Teppanyaki Steak and place it on a pine tray. Holding the tray in one hand, he set the steak onto a rack on Nick's wheelchair. "Kid, take it to old Stan. Talk to him about Batman and see if you can score a tip."
"Alvin, you can't do this. Nick is still a child! He just doesn't have much talent for studying. You can't force him; that'll only make things worse." Foggy protested to Alvin, only to earn a huge eye-roll from Nick.
"Foggy, you're trying to talk to a Chinese man about how to raise children? Are you sure?" A chubby white man, also sitting at the bar waiting for his food, rested his chin on one hand, making the fat beneath it spill out to either side and leaving his cheeks especially puffy. The pale, fat man looked reverently at Alvin's busy back and continued sucking up to him. "You know, Chinese children are all excellent at school. A teacher at my old school even said Chinese people know a kind of witchcraft that can make children especially smart."
Foggy seemed to dislike the chubby white man. In a sarcastic tone, he said, "Sheriff, why do I only see you here on this day every month? What are you waiting for? What benefit is worth making the famous owner of Sheriff's Garage sit here obediently on this day every month? Is it for that steak?"
"Hey, Foggy, you need to show me some respect," Sheriff shouted angrily, though nothing more excessive came out of his mouth. Everyone familiar with the place knew that owner Alvin hated hearing foul language, especially when children were around.
