The Expensive Ambulance

By this point, Killian had gone completely insane. He was a total and utter failure.

The Mandarin and Vice President Andrew Van Buren had both decided to abandon him.

The Vice President had even lured him to a gathering of his rivals, hoping to get Alvin to find him and send all his opponents straight to Hell.

Unfortunately for them, they ran into a team of the best agents around. Ethan Hunt had disguised himself as the contact and blindsided Killian. Ethan had suggested using him for their own purposes, but Alvin had vetoed the idea.

Abandoned among a group of hostile "winners," Killian had bowed his head to the Mandarin. In return, the Mandarin sent him to guard the kidnapped President Ellis, hoping to see if he could lure Tony Stark into a trap.

Unfortunately, Stark and Alvin were both caught up in more urgent matters. If not for the situation at the North Pole, Stark might have taken the bait. The bomb planted in that abandoned factory had been the Mandarin's final attempt.

As for Killian, well, it seemed nobody cared about him at all. Whatever the outcome, he was destined for Hell...

As he fled, Killian pieced together what had happened. He had gone completely mad, and now Tony Stark didn't seem quite so hateful.

For anyone, the person who pulled you up only to shove you into the abyss was even more hateful.

Unable to find the Mandarin, Killian followed the information broadcast on television to the White House to take revenge on the Vice President. Everyone was focused on the legitimate President in New York, so there should be no one here who could stop him.
