Ambush

Alvin hadn't told Stark what he was really thinking. He found it hard to accept research that practically amounted to changing the very nature of life.

Just like with Doctor Lizard. Peter and Harry had both said that Dr. Connors's goal was to develop a drug that could regenerate severed limbs. But what had happened?

But this was a research project by Stark Industries, and Nick had benefited from it, too. That left Alvin with no grounds to criticize Doctor Eileen.

All he could do was hope the research would ultimately lead to good results, and that people suffering from all kinds of cruel diseases would benefit from it.

Stark was one of the people who understood Alvin best. He wasn't particularly bothered by Alvin's frequent displays of "anti-intellectualism."

For Alvin, "humanity" often mattered more than profit. That was actually what Stark admired most about him.

Sometimes Stark even thought that if he'd never met Alvin, he might have gotten bogged down in scientific research. Once science set "humanity" aside, did it have any value left?

Amused, Stark patted Alvin, who was clearly uncomfortable, and said with a laugh, "Put your worries aside. You're making the CEO of Stark Industries look unprofessional."

As he spoke, Stark pointed to Murphy, who had been laid on the ground. "At least he's still alive!

"None of us will try to control him. He's free to decide what he wants to do!"

Alvin watched Murphy slowly raise his head, his gaze fixed on his hands in utter anguish. He said helplessly, "No one should have to die twice. You really should have listened to the 'patient' before taking action. Not everyone would be happy to end up looking like this.

"Though I know everything I'm saying now is a load of crap..."
