Alvin wasn't used to seeing Chief George throw his weight around.
For a long time, the poor guy had always been the one on the front lines whenever anything big happened in New York.
Now Chief George had forcibly detained two military personnel, making Alvin think he might need to reevaluate the man.
He'd have to adjust his long-held impression of him as a "short-tempered, bargain-basement father-in-law."
Stark was pleased that Chief George hadn't dragged Stark Industries into his outburst. He still didn't know exactly what was going on, but Stark Industries was bound to bear some responsibility for this.
He glanced at Murphy, unconscious and suspended on the support, then shot Doctor Eileen an unhappy look. "Tell me what happened.
"I remember you have strict rules and regulations. Anything involving humanitarian concerns is absolutely forbidden."
Seeing her boss speak up, Doctor Eileen wisely dropped her haughty air and replied in a cool voice, "The military brought him in by helicopter the day before yesterday, in the early hours of the morning.
"He'd already been given almost no chance of survival...
"We have a partnership with the military, providing prosthetics for their disabled veterans.
"This man wouldn't normally have qualified for our help, but the military provided us with a report.
"It stated that Murphy was a decorated soldier and that he was important to the military."
Doctor Eileen glanced at Chief George, who was striding over with murder in his eyes. Her expression remained impassive as she continued, "We could have refused to take him in, but the military showed us his impressive record.
"So we took a small risk.
"My job was to keep him alive and restore his ability to work as he had before.
"I succeeded, but it seems a lot of people aren't satisfied!"
