Background / History

Yun Yun is the sect master of the Misty Cloud Sect and the teacher of Nalan Yanran, the sect's young sect master. She leads her sect's party to an ancient ruin that appears near the Black-Corner Region, arriving before Jia Xingtian and calmly assessing the phenomenon from the sky. Jia Xingtian considers the Misty Cloud Sect likely to surpass the Jia Ma Empire in influence and entrusts the empire's future welfare to Yun Yun's sect. 51

When the ruin's stone gate manifests, Yun Yun withstands its crushing pressure by bracing herself with her green-glowing sword rather than falling to her knees. She is selected by the gate's golden light and drawn into the ruin alongside the other chosen participants. 51 52

She combines decisiveness with caution. Yun Yun promptly chooses the right-hand door during the first trial, but later recognizes that the ruin's supposedly ancient inheritance trials feel suspiciously rushed—as though they are designed to filter candidates quickly rather than test successors properly. 53 66
