Background

The Witch Clan originates from Pangu's legacy. The Twelve Ancestral Witches were formed from Pangu's essence blood and gestated beneath Mount Buzhou, where they absorbed immense quantities of Sha Qi. Their physical bodies and combat strength are exceptional, but this same Sha Qi suppresses their primordial spirits, preventing most of them from comprehending the Heavenly Dao through conventional cultivation. 1 10 11

Pangu Hall serves as the clan's sanctuary and contains the Pangu Blood Pool, a foundation left by Pangu. The pool can produce Great Witches and ordinary Witch Clan members when supplied with the Ancestral Witches' essence blood; strengthening the pool improves the potential of future clansmen. 14

Houtu discovered the gestating Pan Xuan near Mount Buzhou and brought him to Pangu Hall. After the Twelve Ancestral Witches verified that he had been born from Pangu's righteous aura, they accepted him as their younger brother. They taught him the Dao, gave him their essence blood to help him form a Dao body, and later entrusted him with the Primordial Heaven-Measuring Ruler. 1 3 6 8 13

Pan Xuan's Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light changed the clan's prospects when it enabled Houtu to develop a primordial spirit—the first known instance within the Witch Clan. Appearance

The Witch Clan has no single appearance. Its ruling Twelve Ancestral Witches possess distinct god-demon true forms, while their innate Dao bodies resemble powerful humanoid men and women. Their true forms radiate enough force to distort space, freeze their surroundings, or shake Pangu Hall. 1 6 7

Personality

The clan places overwhelming importance on kinship and bloodline. Although the Ancestral Witches initially suspected Pan Xuan, they accepted him immediately after confirming his shared origin with Pangu and collectively committed to protecting and teaching him. 2 3 6

Among themselves, the Ancestral Witches are straightforward and prone to quarrels—especially Zhu Rong and Gong Gong—yet their loyalty is sincere. They unite quickly when a sibling is threatened or an important decision must be made. 2 6 7

The clan originally favors direct action and personal strength, but becomes more patient after accepting Pan Xuan's strategic counsel. Rather than immediately expanding through the Pangu Blood Pool, they adopt a concealed policy of accumulating Sha Qi and battlefield resources while avoiding notice from the three dominant clans. 14 15

History

Recognition of Pan Xuan

The Twelve Ancestral Witches find Pan Xuan in Pangu Hall after Houtu brings him from a hidden place of gathering Profound Yellow Qi. They initially debate whether he is a treasure, a threat, or a possible relative. After examining his aura, they acknowledge him as a sibling born from Pangu's righteous vitality. 1 3

Transformation of the Clan's Prospects

The Ancestral Witches spend great epochs expounding their respective laws to Pan Xuan and each gives him a drop of essence blood. Their support allows him to refine the twelve source powers, take a Dao body, and reach a level at which he can employ his innate abilities. 6 9

After Houtu develops a primordial spirit through the Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light, the clan recognizes that its defining spiritual limitation may not be absolute. The Primordial Heaven-Measuring Ruler is subsequently given to Pan Xuan as an additional foundation for the clan's future. 10 14

Concealed Expansion

When the Ancestral Witches consider using the Pangu Blood Pool to rapidly increase their population, Pan Xuan warns that open expansion would make the Witch Clan a target of the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans. The clan instead adopts his policy of secretly gathering battlefield corpses and Sha Qi until the three great clans exhaust one another. 14 15

For many years, the thirteen—Pan Xuan and the Twelve Ancestral Witches—travel the edges of the three clans' battlefields. They wait until combat ends, collect only abandoned ordinary corpses, absorb residual Sha Qi, and avoid direct conflict. 16 18

Ferocious Beast Calamity Abyss

In the western lands, Pan Xuan breaks an ancient restriction that the Twelve Ancestral Witches could not destroy. The group discovers an abyss containing ancient Sha Qi from the Ferocious Beast Calamity. Eleven Ancestral Witches absorb the Qi and break through, while Pan Xuan and Houtu remain protected from it. 19 20

The group also recovers the Destruction Stele from the abyss. Recognizing the danger of having disturbed an ancient seal, they retreat immediately to Pangu Hall, where they begin studying the stele and later decide to reduce their outward activity. 21 22 24 25
