Principles
The Broken Mountain Fist is taught as an art of killing rather than a display-oriented fist technique. Its central creed is to meet resistance with relentless, escalating offense: if one punch does not end the fight, continue striking until the opponent cannot resist or dies. It is meant to break external obstacles as well as the practitioner's inner hesitation. 6 10
Its power is rooted in the Broken Mountain Stake Method. The practitioner draws force from the ground through a stable stance, channels it through the waist and spine, and releases it through the fists. The art favors advancing without fear or retreat. 6 10
- The complete art comprises six moves and eighteen forms. 10
- The first three moves are primarily suited to opponents below Dark Force; the final three are advanced techniques for Dark Force practitioners and beyond. 40
- Its progression is tied to martial realms: the second move is taught after reaching Bright Force, the third after mastering Bright Force, and the final three at Dark Force or above. 10 40
Moves
First Move: Opening Mountain
Opening Mountain establishes the art's direct, foundation-based offense. It probes an opponent's force, layers repeated attacks, and concentrates accumulated power into a decisive blow. 10
- Break Ground — A rooted straight punch used to test an opponent's strength and open their centerline. 10 42
- Split Stone — Alternating chain punches that stack force through the legs, waist, and hips; it follows when the opponent's force is inferior or their guard has been disrupted. 10 22
- Break Wall — A downward, explosive strike that condenses the move's accumulated force; it can shatter the protective qi of a same-level Transforming Force opponent. 10
- Duan Xuan used the full sequence to batter Wolf Tian and create separation during their fight. 21
- Against Ma Jiancheng, he delivered thirty-three consecutive Opening Mountain strikes before changing to Peak-Crusher. 53
Second Move: Mountain Rift
Mountain Rift shifts the focus from surface impact to penetrating force. It is designed to bypass armor, tough hides, and other external defenses by damaging the opponent's flesh, meridians, and internal organs. 19
- Drill Split — Concentrates force onto the protruding ridge of the fist for a precise, armor-piercing strike. 19 22
- Mountain Sweep — A broad horizontal sweep for breaking multiple opponents' stances; it can also intercept a powerful close-range attack. 19 22
- Rupture — Combines feints with a high-low double strike: surface force breaks defense while inner force shocks and ruptures the target from within. 19
- One Punch, Two Yolks — A documented fourth form in which one fist creates an opening while the other delivers the true killing strike. Duan Xuan used it to break Wolf Tian's ribs and incapacitate him. 21
- Duan Xuan employed Drill Split and Mountain Sweep in a spar with Zhang Chen, choosing their piercing and intercepting properties against his senior brother's heavier punches. 22
Third Move: Peak-Crusher
Peak-Crusher abandons conventional defense in favor of overwhelming momentum. When chained after the first two moves, it gives the user a chance to reverse an unfavorable exchange through continuous, increasingly powerful attacks. 30
- Rage Charge
- Overlapping Waves
- Sole Supremacy — The move's final form; Duan Xuan used it to defeat Ma Jiancheng after raising his vitality and blood through sustained offense. 30 53
- The move turns the Broken Mountain Fist into an attack-without-defense framework, with each successive strike building on the previous one. 53
Fourth Move: Ridge Overturn
Ridge Overturn uses Dark Force to control the surrounding battlefield rather than engage only one opponent. Its force can suppress movement, disrupt formations, dissolve attacks, and deliver crushing area strikes. 40
- Earth Suppression — Sends force through the ground to constrict an opponent's movement space and restrain agile enemies. 40
- Wind Swallow — Forms a vortex-like force that can neutralize incoming attacks, briefly reinforce the user, and defend against certain hidden weapons. 40
- Ridge Crush — A descending double-fist blow combining falling weight with gathered force, suited to breaking formations and overwhelming heavily defended foes. 40
Fifth and Sixth Moves
The fifth and sixth moves are the art's ultimate offensive techniques, intended to contend with Transforming Realm martial artists. Chen Feng characterizes them as the Broken Mountain stance's Brute-Force Technique-Breaking methods. 40 41
- They require Transforming Realm cultivation to display their true power. 41
- Duan Xuan can memorize and practice them at Dark Force, but cannot grasp their essence or reproduce even a tenth of Chen Feng's demonstrated effect. 41 56
- Chen Feng demonstrated their potential by condensing hard qi into a fist wave that shattered an iron-sand rock from more than ten meters away. 41
