Yu Qingshan is publicly an ordinary professor and a branch member without authority in the B City Yu Family business. The family’s actual wealth comes from treasures passed down when his branch separated from the main family: gold bars, antiques, calligraphy, paintings, collectibles, and jewelry kept in a concealed chamber behind the study bookcase. 7 8

He and Yi Qiuguo once gave Yu Xunge five million yuan after a minor car accident, telling her that it represented all of the family’s savings and that she would become the family’s pillar. Yu Xunge later discovers the hidden vault and concludes that the gesture concealed the family’s far greater assets. 7

Yu Qingshan maintains the study’s secret-room mechanism and notices Yu Xunge near the room, appearing gentle while guarding against her discovering the vault.
