Background / History

In Gu Jiuque's previous life, Shentu Fang killed him at the Gu Family Ancestral Residence after the Gu family had been destroyed and Gu Jiuque's legs were paralyzed. Gu Jiuque had never learned his killer's name until their meeting in the reborn timeline. 124 127

Shentu entered the new timeline as the special consultant for the Han tomb excavation. Dean Qin introduced him as the descendant of an archaeological family and the person who provided the tomb lead, yet Gu Jiuque had never heard of such a family and found that both Shentu's history and official file were effectively blank. 124 150

Following a failed attempt to abduct Gu Jiuque and obtain the Jade Celestial Pivot and Gu family blood, Shentu was dismissed from the excavation team through Gu Eight Blades and Yue Jinmei's connections. 161 164 Shen Heng's family subsequently offered a reward for information leading to his capture, forcing him into hiding. 166

Personality

Shentu is calculating, possessive, and openly manipulative. He initially approaches Gu Jiuque under the guise of professional admiration and a desire to exchange ideas, but repeatedly provokes him, makes sexually suggestive remarks, and treats Gu Jiuque as an object of fascination rather than an equal. 124 125 129

He is highly jealous of Gu Jiuque's talent, family support, and closeness with Shen Heng. During the Han tomb excavation, he tries to undermine Gu Jiuque by implying that the excavation plan was too perfect to be genuine or may have been written by Gu Jiuque's grandparents. 135 136

Although he needles Gu Jiuque and the junior restoration specialists, Shentu backs down when Shen Heng confronts him, revealing a tendency to bully those he considers less powerful. 137 Once cornered, his restraint deteriorates into violence and sadism; while in hiding, he tortures Bai Yuesheng and mutilates all ten of his fingers. 167

Alliance with Bai Yuesheng

After Bai Yuesheng seeks him out with information on the Jade Celestial Pivot, Shentu feigns interest in an alliance. He instead seizes Bai Yuesheng, interrogates him about his unexplained knowledge, and reveals that his own interest in Gu Jiuque is far more dangerous than Bai Yuesheng anticipated. 152 153 154

Kidnapping Attempt and Dismissal

Shentu sends an accomplice to abduct Gu Jiuque, ordering the theft of Jade Celestial Pivot and collection of Gu blood if the abduction cannot be completed. The attempt fails because Shen Heng's bodyguards intervene, after which Shentu is removed from the archaeological team. 161 163 164

Fugitive Campaign

Driven into hiding by the reward placed on him, Shentu tortures Bai Yuesheng for information and orchestrates a diversion involving arson at the Gu Family Ancestral Residence. He has Gu Eight Blades abducted and demands that Gu Jiuque bring Jade Celestial Pivot to an exchange. 166 167 170 172

Death

At the abandoned factory, Shentu kills Bai Yanliang after deciding he is no longer useful and prepares to kill Shen Heng, Gu Jiuque, and Bai Yuesheng. An armed drone fires before he can carry out the plan; he collapses onto Bai Yuesheng and dies as the police arrive. 172 173 174
