A Strong Start, a Weak Finish

Under the high-gravity conditions, every step Sean took seemed to drain all the strength from his body.

Without that strange X-ability of infinite stamina, he would never have been able to get close.

Ava Ellis was doing better in this environment. At least her freedom of movement had not been affected too severely, though she was still struggling.

Sean's actions left Ava no choice but to follow him despite herself.

Ava Ellis felt as though she had swallowed something foul, utterly stifled. She simply could not understand it. Did he really have such a deep grudge against a house?

Who was Gaia? An ancient deity! Why did a mere doctor have to stubbornly lock horns with her?

But could she try to persuade him? No, she could not~

Though he had inherited this building, it was immensely important to Sean. He had not owned a home in his previous life. Whether it was this clinic or that apartment, he treasured them dearly.

The grudge of destroying his home was irreconcilable!

But he had not gone much farther before an earthen-yellow radiance blocked his path, preventing him from advancing any further.

It was an incredibly solid wall made of light!

"Can Ava break it?"

"I can't, Doctor White."

"What use are you, then?"

"..." Ava was troubled. This was the goddess Gaia! A mighty deity who, in the era before Ava was born, could beat most demons black and blue. Not to mention that Ava was still so weak right now~

Seeing that he could not borrow Ava's power, Sean could only think of another way himself.

The problem was that this kind of power was utterly unfamiliar to him. Who knew what the hell something from the mystical side even was?

From where he stood, he could not see the witch's condition, but judging from those miserable groans, his end-stage gouty arthritis had definitely done its job. This giant woman had probably been summoned because the witch was being tortured too badly.

Sean took out the Black Ledger, treating a dead horse as if it were alive, and directly slapped it against the earthen-yellow light.

He wanted to use the ledger to identify what exactly this thing was.

Yet, to his surprise, the ledger seemed to stick to the light, frantically absorbing the power within it.

"Ah?"

Sean's mouth fell open. Why did it feel like the Black Ledger was sneaking a meal?

The remaining Source Essence number on the Black Ledger began rapidly rising. One hundred, two hundred, three hundred, five hundred...

The changing numbers made Sean's heart pound. This was free loot! At this rate, if it kept stealing for a little longer, he could get thirty or fifty thousand!

In just seven or eight seconds, the remaining Source Essence had risen to over two thousand. This was far faster than treating patients!

"Gaia's power of earth?"

That was how the message conveyed by the ledger described it: ownerless divine power of earth!

Ownerless?

That was a very interesting word. This Gaia standing here... was not actually the owner of this power?

Sean knew little about Gaia. He could only tell from the ledger's message that she was a powerful deity. As for how powerful? The gravity field alone made that obvious.

In any case, he was happily picking up Source Essence and could not even spare a thought for the witch.

But the good times only lasted around ten seconds. After the ledger had collected less than three thousand Source Essence, the earthen-yellow light faded away.

Sean was somewhat disappointed~

He braced himself and moved a little farther forward, reaching Gaia's feet. Then he excitedly pressed the Black Ledger against her foot!

He waited eagerly for the Black Ledger to pick up more Source Essence for him~

Yet strangely, the Black Ledger did not react at all this time. It seemed it could only freely collect divine power that had already been released~

That was a little unfriendly!

With no more advantage to exploit, Sean obediently put away the Black Ledger and headed straight for the witch, Morgan le Fay.

Smack~

A slap across the face~

"Ah!!!"

Morgan le Fay was awake. She simply could not move under the torment of arthritis. Sean's slap made her want to leap up, but the pain throughout her body instantly crushed her will.

After a miserable scream~

She passed out~

"..."

Sean's lips trembled as he muttered:

"I haven't even vented yet~"

As the witch lost consciousness, Gaia gradually became illusory as well~

With nothing blocking it, Magneto's enormous iron sphere came crashing down like a meteor!

The mist had already dispersed~

With such a huge iron ball... who but a blind man could fail to see it!

If it came down... no one else was certain, but Storm and Cyclops were definitely dead!

Those two still could not move~

Polaris reacted incredibly quickly, suddenly unleashing her power. An eerie green glow instantly enveloped the massive iron sphere made from cars, steel bars, and ships~

Her power was certainly not enough to stop the iron sphere directly... so Polaris chose to shove it sideways~

The four-story apartment building next to the sporting goods store beside the clinic, and the four-story apartment building beside that...

Were gone in an instant~

Polaris covered her mouth in fright, on the verge of tears~

Professor X comforted her.

"Everyone nearby has already been evacuated. Don't worry."

"But..."

Polaris was worried... that the government would make her compensate them for that building...

But who would care about that right now?

The X-Men hurried into the ruins of the clinic and dug Storm and Cyclops out of the ash and dirt. If this continued, the two of them would suffocate~

After the overwhelming gravity vanished, Wolverine and Yuriko began facing each other down. Neither made the first move.

They remained locked in a stalemate.

Only after Gaia's departure did everyone clearly see just how much destruction she had caused!

With the clinic at the center, everything within a fifty-meter radius had become ruins!

And they were remarkably flat ruins. The powerful gravity seemed to have acted only upon the ground, compressing the entire fifty-meter radius into a perfectly level surface.

Magneto glanced at Professor X, wearing an expression that said his prophecy had been utterly unreliable.

Professor X was innocent too. He had merely seen the prophecy of a mutant with precognitive abilities...

Who would have thought... it would end like this?

It felt as though they had gathered all their strength, only for the enemy to collapse before they could throw a punch...

The members of both mutant organizations felt as though they had suffered internal injuries.

Magneto had wanted to use this opportunity to strike at the X-Men, but with Professor X present, he abandoned the idea.

The Brotherhood withdrew with Magneto on his flying metal carpet...

Professor X gave the blue-skinned woman a long look, his eyes gleaming with an inscrutable light.

After Phoenix dug the barely alive Cyclops out of the compacted dust, she looked at Sean suspiciously.

"What exactly happened?"

Sean ignored her outright. He was currently facing a difficult problem.

That was how to deal with the witch Morgan le Fay.

Deep down, he wanted to kill this dangerous woman immediately.

But this witch could summon Gaia, and that power of earth allowed him to freely collect Source Essence~

That was what Sean was conflicted about.

As for Phoenix's question?

Was he obligated to answer it?

"Do you know this woman?"

"I don't know her."

"Bullshit! If you didn't know her, why did she start fighting you the moment she saw you?"

Sean glared at Ava.

Ava's expression fell. She leaned close to Sean's ear and whispered:

"She recognized that I'm a demon~"

"Hmm~ And you still couldn't beat her?"

"..." Ava had no response, feeling utterly stifled. If she had not been afraid of destroying the clinic, would she have feared a witch? Before Gaia had been summoned, she could take them down one after another!

Ava looked at the unconscious witch, then gave Sean an inquiring glance.

Sean became conflicted again.

"Doctor White! Can you help us?"

Bobby the Iceman called out. Storm had several fractures and was rather seriously injured. Iceman hoped Sean could help them.

With that interruption, Sean stopped dwelling on it. He quietly said to Ava Ellis:

"Kill her~"

This was the second time Sean had decided to kill someone~

The first time...

Had been just a few hours ago!

The famed witch Morgan le Fay died just like that...

It was just unknown whether that agreement to find Victor still existed~
