Sean watched Ava snap the witch Morgan le Fay's neck with one hand.
It was pretty much like the moves in the movies.
He did not feel anything special.
He said to Ava Ellis, "You and Linda handle things here. I need to leave later."
Ava hesitated for a moment, but ultimately nodded. The reason for her hesitation was her identity—her current appearance had an identity record stating she had been born in 1907. What a headache.
The she-devil hurried off to find Linda and explain a few things in advance, or it would be easy to expose the lie.
The police and firefighters had already surrounded the area. The most troublesome part had arrived!
But with the X-Men here, Sean did not need to force himself to explain anything.
Strangely, the police did not seem interested in investigating anything. They merely asked a few simple questions before beginning to assess the damage to the building...
Even the reporters had been driven away. That was a rare sight! Only the headlights and searchlights of police cars remained, illuminating the area.
Sean did not really understand it, but he was happy enough to let it be.
He simply dragged Yuriko away with him.
As they left, several men in suits gave him noticeably more than a few looks.
There was a little over an hour left. He only hoped what had just happened would not affect Kingpin's deal.
His house was insured, but he had still suffered heavy losses this time. He was counting on getting some of it back from Kingpin.
The clinic had been destroyed.
In theory, the insurance company should have paid him more than three million dollars, but the problem was the third party! The dead Morgan le Fay was not going to compensate him.
Still, it was not impossible to work something out. If Gaia pushed for it, they could classify it as force majeure.
That depended on Linda and Ava. Sean was unfamiliar with this whole process anyway.
Under Wolverine's watchful gaze, Sean pulled Yuriko away.
Only on the way to Queens did Sean begin to feel unwell.
His palms sweated, his breathing quickened, and nausea rose in his stomach. The image of the witch's neck snapping replayed in his mind again and again, making Sean breathe even more heavily.
"Are you okay?"
Yuriko drove without turning her head as she asked.
"I'm fine."
Sean took two deep breaths and forced himself to think of something else. Like... how much compensation that house could get him!
By the time they reached the dock area, it was already ten o'clock. Kingpin's deal would begin in another half hour.
First, pray that they had not changed the time of the deal!
"Heavenly spirits, earthly spirits, may the Daoist Patriarch bless this humble one and grant my wishes!"
After muttering a few nonsensical lines, Sean finally steadied himself.
"Yuriko."
"Yeah."
"No matter what they're trading later, just take the money."
"Okay!"
After parking nearby, the two stayed inside the car and reclined their seats.
From this spot, they could see the warehouse entrance perfectly.
About ten minutes later, three cars drove into the warehouse. There were eight people in total.
They were unmarked cars, so they should have been Kingpin's men. Sean nearly could not resist rushing in to steal the money outright.
Another ten minutes passed before several Jeeps approached from the other side. The first two stopped at the warehouse entrance, and six burly men got out to look around before signaling for the other two vehicles to drive inside.
"That's about it. Let's go in."
As Sean spoke, he slipped out through the rear side door, with Yuriko following behind him.
It was pitch-black, and Sean was not worried about being seen as he went straight around to the back of the warehouse. The warehouse had only one entrance, but there was a second-floor mezzanine at the rear, with a fire escape.
It was guarded, but Yuriko did not need Sean to tell her anything. She leaped up from the side, reached out, and covered the guard's mouth.
Crack!
This woman had definitely practiced snapping necks. Sean thought of the witch's long, slender neck again.
He wanted to throw up.
Yuriko waited for Sean to climb up before gently pushing open the door.
The moment the door opened—
Curses and gunfire erupted from inside the warehouse!
Sean and Yuriko exchanged a quick glance, then crouched and slipped inside.
This was something like a platform, with an office beside it. At that moment, a burly man inside the office was firing a gun.
Before Sean had even made a move, the two groups had started fighting among themselves. Which side was trying to double-cross the other?
But from their elevated position, they quickly realized it was not an internal fight between the two groups. There was a third party!
Someone had the same idea as him? Sean was a little annoyed.
A dark-red figure moved through the warehouse, using cars and cargo as cover while fighting both groups of gangsters.
"..."
Sean was a little speechless.
If he was not mistaken, that was the famous Daredevil, Matthew Murdock.
The guy who had gotten himself a pair of dog eyes!
The gang member in the small office next to them finished firing all the rounds in his pistol and was preparing to change magazines.
Sean gave Yuriko a look. She darted into the office like a cat, still covering the man's mouth before twisting his neck. Crack!
Another one down.
Then the two began watching the fight. Daredevil was quite skilled. He was not top-tier, but for an ordinary person to reach this level was genuinely impressive.
Yuriko glanced downstairs, then turned to say something to Sean.
Sean stopped her.
Then he pointed at Daredevil and then at his own ear, indicating that the man below had extraordinary hearing.
But Yuriko obviously did not understand what he meant. Still, she understood that she should not speak, at least.
Daredevil's weapon was a cane, something he had used back when he was still blind.
Although he could see now, he had not changed his habit of carrying a cane and wearing sunglasses.
Daredevil knocked down several gangsters from both groups one after another.
At that point, the gangsters began to panic.
Kingpin's men had only one thing on their minds: protect Kingpin's money.
The deal could fail, but if the money was gone too, they would die without even a burial place. Even their families would die without a burial place.
Two of the thugs exchanged a glance, then charged toward the car carrying the money at the same time.
Daredevil was busy dodging fire from the other group and had no time to deal with them.
But Sean was not about to let them drive the car away.
Yuriko leaped from the second floor and landed directly on the roof of the car.
Her outrageous weight smashed a huge dent into the roof.
One punch and one kick knocked the two punks to the ground. As for whether they were dead or alive, Sean could not tell.
Sean did not go down. Unlike Yuriko, he could not withstand bullets.
To be safe, he merely picked up the gangster's pistol from the second floor.
The moment he held the pistol, he felt something strange, as though he simply knew how to use it.
Sean was a little puzzled. He assumed that, while reviewing the original owner's memories, he had carelessly missed part of them.
As if possessed, he raised the gun and aimed it at a gangster preparing to shoot Yuriko...
