Background / History
The Tang Sect was founded in Tiandou City thirty thousand years ago. Although the rise of Soul Tools once drove it into decline, a later generation of the Shrek Seven Monsters restored it to prominence twenty thousand years ago. Its nominal headquarters moved to Shrek City ten thousand years ago, but its ancestral grounds in Tiandou remain its spiritual core and original foundation 32.
The sect has preserved confidential records across ten thousand years, including accounts of the final battle involving Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena, correspondence with Spirit Pagoda, and Sea God Pavilion meeting records. These materials are guarded under the highest secrecy in protected underground archives 33 34.
Following Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena’s return, Tang Fenghua activated the highest confidentiality protocol and coordinated with Shrek Academy to conceal their identities. The sect’s council chose to respect the pair’s wish for privacy rather than publicly announce the return of its legendary ancestors 33 38.
Tang Wulin later declined to resume the sect master’s daily duties. He instead defined himself as a hidden final safeguard who would intervene only if the Tang Sect faced an existential threat, leaving its ordinary leadership and development to the current generation 49.
Organization
Leadership
- Tang Fenghua — Current Sect Master; recognized Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena at the ancestral grounds, granted them access to the sect’s highest classified archives, and manages confidential communications concerning their return 33 38.
- Tang Qingfeng — Current Sect Master alongside Tang Fenghua; jointly controls access to the Tang Sect’s deepest secret vault 141.
- Bai Changhe — Managing Elder of the Xingluo Continent branch; oversees local intelligence, historical materials, and liaison work with Xingluo authorities 89.
- Luo Changchun — Supervisory Elder stationed at Dragon Ridge Pass; participates in the verification of Tang Sect authorization and access to the Dragonfall Mountains’ core region 106.
- Zhou Yuanshan — Head of the Tang Sect’s Merak Star branch 176.
Core Principles
- Maintains a neutral political stance on Xingluo Continent and avoids direct involvement in political struggles 89.
- Prioritizes technology, resources, intelligence, and cooperation over territorial rule 89.
- Treats the Tang Sect, Shrek Academy, and Spirit Pagoda as powers that should cooperate against future extraterrestrial threats rather than exhaust themselves through internal conflict 49.

Operations and Capabilities
Soul Tool Technology
The Tang Sect is a leading Soul Tool power. Alongside Shrek Academy, it develops advanced individual weaponry, large-scale defensive systems, and outer-space exploration technology 35.
Its technical work ranges from civilian infrastructure to high-security equipment:
- Operates and supports advanced Soul Tool transportation systems across Xingluo Continent 90.
- Develops consciousness-linked vehicles such as the Silverwing hovercar, which can be controlled through direct consciousness connection and gives the user a three-dimensional sensory field 143.
- Fields exclusive interstellar passenger vessels with advanced energy shields and life-support systems 185.
- Maintains a defensive fleet around Douluo Star alongside Shrek Academy, independent of the Federation 185.
Intelligence Network
The sect maintains a far-reaching intelligence network capable of detecting spatial anomalies, monitoring energy signatures, and supplying critical information to allied authorities 85 89.
- Eastsea City intelligence detected energy leakage from Xie Xie’s pocket watch and supplied reports on spatial anomalies near Xingluo Continent 85.
- The sect’s deepest vault preserves raw monitoring data from the Far North’s Everfrost Domain, including records of a twenty-seven-day energy interruption and reversal pulse 141.
- Tang Fenghua personally reported an unknown energy pulse and the disappearance of a Tang Sect monitoring station in the Bottomless Abyss 174.
Forging and Equipment
Tang Wulin’s connection to the sect includes its highest forging traditions. His one-hammer Soul Refinement of Heavy Silver caused widespread alarm among blacksmiths and was regarded as the work of a divine craftsman 19 21.
He later offered the sect two complete sets of Spirit Alloy Divine Forging battle armor in return for use of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. A complete set can double a god-level powerhouse’s combat strength and enable combat across a minor realm 151.
Tang Sect Arts
The sect preserves supreme inherited arts, including:
- Purple Demon Eyes — An eye-based cultivation art and one of the foundations of Patriarch Tang San’s fame. Tang Wulin’s dormant mastery awakened upon arriving in Tiandou City 32.
- Mysterious Heaven Technique — An orthodox inner-power cultivation method recognized by Tang Sect disciples and elders 32 33.
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A movement technique emphasizing sudden bursts and unpredictable directional changes; Tang Wulin taught it to Dong Qingyan 74.
Xingluo Empire
The Tang Sect holds a transcendent position on Xingluo Continent through ten thousand years of cooperation with the imperial family. Its civilian Soul Tools improve livelihoods, its medicine treats the injured, and its intelligence network supports imperial security 89.
The organization jointly administers the Dragonfall Mountains with the Xingluo Empire:
- The Tang Sect maintains and upgrades the Dragon-Sealing Formation, a Soul Tool array that stabilizes space, suppresses dangerous energy eruptions, and restricts core-region entry to authenticated individuals 97.
- It assists the imperial family with Dragonblood Trial qualification reviews, safety procedures, and monitoring; at least three god-level Soul Engineers are stationed before each trial to ensure the formation’s stability 97.
- It proposed expanding controlled cultivation zones around Dragonfall Mountains and installing additional monitoring and protective arrays after the re-emergence of Dragon Valley’s energy 137.
Its influence has also created resentment among some Xingluo nobles and local Soul Tool industries, who view Tang Sect technology and recruitment as restrictive. These complaints remain minor compared with the sect’s secure alliance with the imperial family 91.
Relationships
- Shrek Academy / Sea God Pavilion — The Tang Sect’s strongest and most central ally; they share high-level Soul Tool achievements, intelligence, defenses, and secrecy protocols 35 38.
- Tang Wulin — Revered as a returned ancestor, former Sect Master, and the sect’s hidden ultimate safeguard; he refuses routine authority but remains committed to defending the organization in a crisis 33 49.
- Gu Yuena — Honored alongside Tang Wulin after her return; Tang Fenghua relayed her requested notice of possible contact to Spirit Pagoda 33 36.
- Spirit Pagoda — A major contemporary power with a historically strained relationship to the Tang Sect; Tang Wulin advocates cooperation rather than conflict 36 49.
- Xingluo Empire — Trusted technological partner; jointly manages the Dragonfall Mountains and relies on Tang Sect systems for transportation, defenses, and national infrastructure 89 97.
