The Void-Negating Calamity Pearl crashed forward with overwhelming force. Just as Zhang Yu had expected, the two alien gods had nowhere to evade. They simultaneously let out furious roars that shook the Golden Palace, and dazzling bursts of divine radiance erupted from their bodies.
Divine Queen Iqi stepped forward of her own accord, half-kneeling as she raised her shield to meet it. Divine King Ilus, meanwhile, hurled the axe in his hand at the Calamity Pearl.
Yet before the axe could draw near, the fiery, mist-like glow drifting around the pearl had already sent it flying away. That blazing white radiance lost none of its momentum as it slammed down with a thunderous crash. In an instant, a violent burst of light erupted at the point of impact!
That divine shield clearly possessed the ability to disperse incoming force. Whether Zhang Yu's earlier sword strike or the later technique of Renewed Sun and Moon, most of their power had been diverted away upon striking it. But it was useless against the Void-Negating Calamity Pearl. When the pearl struck, all its force was concentrated in one point—nothing could be divided, nothing could be shifted. The two of them had to bear it all themselves.
Zhang Yu narrowed his eyes. He saw the shield shatter inch by inch beneath the Calamity Pearl's impact, exploding into fragments that filled the sky. Behind it, the immense bodies of the Divine King and Divine Queen also broke apart in great chunks amid blazing light. Though they had not yet been completely pulverized, their entire bodies were covered in cracks. They looked like statues weathered by countless years, ready to collapse with the slightest additional push.
Yet threads of light soon emerged from those fissures. Wherever the light passed, the damaged portions began to mend anew.
