History

Descent and early consolidation

Celestial Xia descended into a world scarred by successive epochs, invasions, ancient powers, gods, monsters, and collapsed civilizations. Its floating cities were said to have hung across the sky, visible throughout the known world. It subsequently fought gods, monsters, and native powers to restore order 1.

During its first century in the world, Celestial Xia captured native gods, stripped their powers, and refined them into Divine Robes for the Divine Commandery Army. This allowed trained ordinary soldiers to wield a portion of divine abilities 4.

A Turbid Tide sixty years before the events in Eastern Court severed the Protectorate's contact with the homeland, leading some to fear that Celestial Xia had fallen. Later contact confirmed that it still stood and had become stronger, though it had also gained new enemies 5 219.

Expansion into the Upper Layer

Celestial Xia inherited much of Divine Xia's legacy and abolished the old divisions among sects within its domain, placing all such authority under the Profound Court 1019 1054. During its campaign against Upper Firmament Heaven, it used overwhelming material reserves, flying vessels, divine beings, formations, and Dao-suppressing treasures to force the sect's surrender 1019 1020 1061.

Following victory, Upper Firmament Heaven's cultivators were not indiscriminately slaughtered; they were transferred for later arrangements, while Celestial Xia placed particular value on the population formerly ruled by the sect 1061. The wider victory was celebrated across Celestial Xia's thirteen provinces and four prefectures 1086.

Conflict with Origin Xia

Origin Xia later dispatched envoys with the intent to probe, weaken, and divide Celestial Xia. Celestial Xia delayed negotiations to gain preparation time while its Tingzhi readied the realm for war 1424.

The resulting conflict expanded into a prolonged struggle across void domains, world realms, formations, and the Two-Realm Passage. Celestial Xia relied on coordinated forces, external bodies, Creation vessels, flying vessels, Dao-guarding treasures, and its ability to adapt its methods to Origin Xia's Heavenly Order 1555 1586 1635 2179.

Under pressure from Origin Xia, Celestial Xia developed its own Heavenly Order. Unlike Origin Xia's system, it was intended as a defensive measure to protect lower-level cultivators from excessive powers rather than impose unchanging control over all things 1835 2095.

Later era

Six years after the war with Origin Xia, Celestial Xia continued to monitor and investigate newly forming or collapsing realms. It no longer actively spread the Celestial Xia Dao Ideal, instead prioritizing measured responses and the preservation of its strength 2324 2327.

Governance and Dao Ideal

The Profound Court holds authority over Celestial Xia, replacing the independent sect divisions that characterized earlier eras 1054.

• Tingzhi and Chief Executives — Tingzhi deliberate on military, diplomatic, and internal matters, while Chief Executives direct major decisions and preparations 1424 1951 2265.
• Merit and accountability — Merits are rewarded through resources and office, while former enemies may be assigned service according to the severity of their crimes 871 1101.
• Law and recognition — A person of Celestial Xia is defined by inner identification with Celestial Xia, official recognition, and registration under its laws; ancestry alone is not the sole criterion 1684.
• Dao Ideal — Its declared spirit is renewal, transformation, and unity of purpose between high and low, with every person having a Dao to follow 1304 2316 2327.
• Treatment of outsiders — Celestial Xia does not automatically compel those not born within it or not bound by its ideals to serve, even during a crisis 1849.

People and Society

Celestial Xia people originated from beyond Void Heaven and were not shaped by the gods' long-standing intimidation of native peoples. Even ordinary Celestial Xia people possess notable resistance to divine spiritual pressure, while those of mixed descent retain some of that resistance 84.

One Eastern Court region alone contained roughly two hundred thousand Celestial Xia people, alongside An people, people of mixed descent, and naturalized indigenous peoples 6.

Celestial Xia broadly promotes cultivation and learning. Its doctrine holds that every Celestial Xia person has the potential to attain the Way, and its open transmission of cultivation knowledge has contributed to the emergence of new talents 1304 2079.

• Celestial Xia bloodline — Grants resistance to the oppressive presence of gods and divine monsters, though this does not supersede legal recognition as a citizen 84 1684.
• Registry — Official registration records a person's identity, name, and residence, formally recognizing them as a person of Celestial Xia 1316.
