Surging Negative Emotions

The campfire flickered in the fire pit, with a clay pot set over it, steam rising from its mouth.

Starlight shimmered outside, rippling like dancing fish and dragons. The starry sky and the earth seemed to merge as one. If he ignored everything else, it felt as though he were standing amid the stars.

Wu Chu held a bamboo cup, feeling its warmth. Even seated before the fire pit, he could already sense the chill of night creeping toward him.

He sniffed, set down the bamboo cup, and pulled his coat tighter. Although his constitution had improved, he was still somewhat afraid of the temperature changes in this Primordial World.

This simply was not a world where an ordinary mortal should exist.

Little Wolf Cub lay quietly at his feet. In one corner of the cabin was a nest made from dry grass and some fluffy, insulating materials.

Its little head rested on its tiny paws as it dozed contentedly, its small ears occasionally perking up at the distant roars of beasts.

Little Moon Spirit looked strangely at the inexplicably anxious Wu Chu. After sitting with him beside the fire pit for a while, she finally said, "Brother A Chu, I'm going back to cultivate!"

Wu Chu gave a soft grunt and nodded, feeling much more at ease. At least Little Moon Spirit, this little expert, lived nearby, so he did not need to worry about ordinary wild beasts.

As Little Moon Spirit rose, Wu Chu could not help asking, "Little Moon Spirit, when you cultivate, can you let Yibao watch from the side?"

Little Moon Spirit paused in surprise, then nodded. "No problem!"

So Wu Chu summoned Yibao. Before he could give any instructions, she already understood what he wanted. "Don't worry, Master! I'll record Little Moon Spirit's entire cultivation process."

Wu Chu was treating a dead horse as though it were alive. Yibao was a Phone Sprite and possessed computational abilities by nature. He did not know whether, after becoming manifested, she could use this opportunity to calculate and derive Little Moon Spirit's cultivation method.

Though the possibility was extremely slim, Wu Chu still felt it was worth trying.

Watching Yibao float out of the cabin behind Little Moon Spirit, Wu Chu let out a breath. He got up and shut the wooden door, then returned to sit before the Fire Pool and held out his hands to warm them.

Darkness blanketed the earth. The night was quiet, cool as water.

From time to time, the fire pit crackled with the sound of burning wood. Occasionally, he could hear the rush of waves from the enormous lake outside, as well as the cries of birds from farther away.

Little Moon Spirit should have started cultivating by now!

Wu Chu thought silently, hoping that Yibao might gain something from it.

Having been inexplicably thrown into this world, he naturally hoped that he too could embark on the path of cultivation. He also hoped that he might be fortunate enough to become one of this world's long-lived beings.

If, at first, he had merely wanted to survive in this world, then after being influenced by Yibao's words, Wu Chu had gradually come to understand that this might be his opportunity.

In the world he had once lived in, spiritual energy had dissipated, immortals and gods remained unseen, and spirits and monsters had hidden themselves away. Cultivation there was unimaginably difficult.

And now, setting aside whether coming to this world was fortunate or unfortunate... from the perspective of cultivation alone, arriving here was naturally fortunate.

Yet from every other perspective, it was his misfortune.

Leaving aside the vast fortune he had yet to enjoy, simply leaving behind his parents and loved ones to come to this savage world filled with danger everywhere was an immense torment for an Ordinary person like him, both physically and mentally.

Not breaking down already meant his nerves were unusually tough.

Thinking of his parents and loved ones, of all the conveniences and goodness of that world, then thinking of the life he had lived during this time, Wu Chu felt his nose sting and could not help sighing.

After a long while, he let out a long breath, exhaling the gloom bottled up in his heart.

He could only regulate such emotions by himself.

During the day, he could easily suppress these negative emotions. But in the darkness, all kinds of negative feelings readily surfaced.

He rolled over onto the wooden bed, which had no bedding, only dry grass and leaves, and tried hard to fall asleep. Once asleep, he would not have to think about anything.

He only dared let the thought of "one day entering Daluo, traveling through the River of Time, and finding the road home" flash through his mind every now and then.

Daluo was simply too distant.

Perhaps even the Daluo realm could not accomplish such a thing?!

Counting sheep was nearly useless to him as a way to fall asleep. He had now learned another method: completely emptying his mind and imagining his spirit extending outside his body, flying out of the cabin, toward the stars, toward the universe.

At some unknown point, he felt that he was truly roaming through the universe. As he drifted along, the galaxy before his eyes was dazzling, the starlight resplendent. Starlight and Moonlight seemed almost tangible, floating through the sea of stars like wisps of drifting cotton and gathering toward giant dragons one after another.

Among those giant dragons was one of unknown millions of miles in length, coiled in the starry sky. Whenever its dragon eyes opened and closed, it was like the turning of the sun and moon.

Soon, those scenes flashed away.

So it had been a dream.

His mind was already familiar with such scenes, and he instantly realized the situation he was in. Thus, he was not anxious at all. Instead, he began observing his dream in turn.

Several hours later, Wu Chu woke from his dream.

He sighed regretfully. He still had not seen any concrete cultivation method in his dreams.

He now believed his previous deductions more and more. Those dreams were not some transmission of teachings at all, but the residual true spirits of two great experts unconsciously influencing him.

Just as he sat up from the bed, Yibao's figure floated in from outside. The wooden door posed no obstacle whatsoever to her spirit body.

Put simply, this was the Wall-Piercing Technique.

"Well? Did you gain anything?" Wu Chu stared at her with burning eyes.

But the answer he received made Wu Chu somewhat dejected. Yibao shook her head. "You can look at it on your phone. I've uploaded all the footage into it."

Wu Chu took out his phone, opened the video player, and began watching.

In the video, Little Moon Spirit's slender figure sat cross-legged, her expression solemn. A hazy mist enveloped her body, and there was absolutely nothing that seemed worth learning from.

After this video ended, another video followed.

"This is a three-dimensional image of what I sensed inside Little Moon Spirit's body after obtaining her permission to enter with Divine Sense. Take a look."

There was a phantom figure in the video. Within it was a blue, humanoid mass of light. No meridians could be seen, nor could any circulation paths of power.

"What does that mean?" Wu Chu asked in astonishment.

Yibao spread her hands and shrugged. "I should remind you that although Little Moon Spirit looks silly, cute, and harmless, she actually possesses cultivation at the Celestial Immortal level. She is an immortal, understand? At her level, there is no longer any need for meridians. Her cultivation now is not about accumulating magical power, but comprehending the laws of heaven and earth. It is enlightenment of the Dao."
