Background / History

Yueling lived on Purple Jade Mountain before Wu Chu's arrival. Purple Jade Daoist had taught her the local characters, and after the mountain's earlier destruction she secretly collected fragments of Purple Jade Daoist's and the Azure Dragon's shattered magic treasures in hopes that they could someday be restored. 8 51

Wu Chu discovers her in Transformation Form on Purple Jade Mountain. Curious about humans, she teaches him the Primordial Language while he introduces her to human customs and practical knowledge. She quickly comes to regard him as a deeply learned senior despite his repeated claims to be ordinary. 6 11

Her foundation was initially unremarkable, and she took human form earlier than expected because she consumed a Purple Jade Spirit-Pattern Apple. The fruit also gave her Heavenly Immortal cultivation immediately after transforming. 135

Appearance

Little Moon Spirit initially appears as a small, dark-haired girl in Taoist robes, moving lightly across Purple Jade Mountain's lake. Her early clothing is formed and maintained through her own magic power; later, she receives a Phoenix Feather Cloak. 9 48 202

She is diligent and happiest when preparing food or developing new dishes. Even after cooking continuously for decades for the Witch Ancestors, she thanks them for supplying ingredients that allowed her to deepen her comprehension of the Cooking Dao. 132 676

Despite her naivety, Yueling is compassionate and capable of making independent choices. She refuses to take Butterfly Lady Caiyi's Indestructible Spirit Light rather than destroy a pleading being for personal gain, and later declines both Yin-Yang Ancestor and Long-Brow Old Daoist's offers of discipleship because she does not wish to leave Purple Jade Mountain. 230 275 276
