"How was it?" Bei Bei spoke somewhat unclearly, his face swollen from the beating.
"Nothing serious. It was a spirit beast with a spiritual-power attribute. I beat it half to death, but Huo Yuhao insisted on absorbing it. He's lying over there now, but judging by his condition, he should be fine." Tang Wulin yawned, looking nothing like someone spinning a lie.
"Come on. Bring the kid with us, and let's look for other spirit beasts. We'll settle Tang Ya's first, then look for mine." Tang Wulin smiled.
"Martial Granduncle, how many years are you planning for your fourth soul ring?" Bei Bei asked.
Tang Wulin smiled. "At least twenty thousand years. Let's go."
Just in time for his second soul spirit, the Tyrannosaurus soul spirit, to appear.
At the same time, under normal circumstances, he should soon be able to obtain battle armor. If there wasn't any, then so be it—but if there was, hehe!
With a complete set of battle armor, taking on a Titled Douluo would be no problem at all!
He could already challenge opponents above his rank. With battle armor, wouldn't his strength rise to another level?
The main issue was that although he could forge metal, no one could design it for him. If he had a template, that would be absolutely perfect.
Tang Ya soon woke as well. She looked toward Huo Yuhao, who was also slowly coming around.
Tang Wulin walked over and lightly patted Huo Yuhao's shoulder. "Kid, come with us. Your grilled fish is pretty good. If you're willing, come with me to Shrek City."
"Yuhao, why don't you join our Tang Sect?" Tang Ya said with a smile. "The Tang Sect happens to have a spot that can get you into Shrek Academy."
Tang Wulin glanced at Tang Ya.
Tang Ya smiled. "Don't let my age fool you. I'm the current sect master of the Tang Sect. But if anything happens to me, Brother Tang will become the next sect master, even though he isn't a Tang Sect disciple."
"But can't they inherit the Tang Sect themselves?" Huo Yuhao asked, utterly confused.
"If he'd appeared even a little earlier, I might not have become the Tang Sect's sect master. Do you know what Brother Tang's martial souls are?" Tang Ya smiled, not intending to wait for Huo Yuhao to ask before continuing. "They're the Blue Silver Emperor and the Clear Sky Hammer! Exactly the same as Lord Tang San, the Sea God and Asura God, the first sect master of the Tang Sect!"
Tang Wulin lowered his head and smiled.
Still, he truly possessed the Tang Sect's ultimate arts. He simply did not use them normally, and his cultivation method was naturally the Mysterious Heaven Technique.
There was nothing he could do about it. For all these years on the Douluo Continent, no one had developed another cultivation technique. Only the Mysterious Heaven Technique's circulation speed was fairly decent.
As for improving the technique, that was not something he should be doing now. If he wanted to improve it, he would have to wait until he had reached a certain level first.
Besides, in a sense, the Mysterious Heaven Technique was also the crystallization of his ancestors' wisdom. It did not belong to Tang San alone.
In any case, he could not understand how a sect that used poison had ended up with such a righteous and peaceful cultivation technique. It felt as though they had stolen someone else's thing and grafted it onto themselves—utterly out of place.
Tang Wulin smiled. "Come on, Tang Ya. Are you really planning to keep using the spirit beasts Tang San hunted for his soul rings as your own soul ring choices?"
The group talked as they walked.
"Of course! My martial soul isn't like yours. Yours is the Blue Silver Emperor, while mine is only ordinary Blue Silver Grass. Naturally, I'm more suited to following Senior Tang San's path!" Tang Ya said proudly.
Tang Wulin covered his forehead. "Has it occurred to you that Tang San's martial soul was also the Blue Silver Emperor? He just took the wrong path at first?"
"How could that be?!" Bei Bei immediately protested, his voice rising sharply. "How could Master Yu Xiaogang be wrong? Besides, if it was wrong, how could Lord Sea God have become a god?"
Tang Wulin rubbed his brow. Forget it. For the sake of that man being considered his ancestor, he would not argue with him...
"Sometimes, what you see may not be right, Bei Bei. Forget it, I won't say more. Tang Ya, once you've made up your mind, I'll help you. Let's go. You want a Mandala Snake, right?"
"Mm." Tang Ya nodded.
Tang Wulin looked at Huo Yuhao, who tugged at his sleeve. "Brother, my soul skill should be able to help you find spirit beasts."
Hearing that, Tang Wulin mentally smacked himself. He had nearly forgotten—there was a humanoid radar right here!
"Use your soul skill on us," Tang Wulin said to Huo Yuhao.
As he spoke, his eyes continuously observed Huo Yuhao's expression. Seeing that the boy was completely willing, he smiled.
Then again, Huo Yuhao was still rather innocent at this point. Or rather, a little stupidly innocent!
Even the slightest bit of concern could make him profoundly grateful.
All that could be said was that before Heavenly Love-Questioning Valley, he could still be considered a normal person. He was usable, at least.
As for afterward...
All Tang Wulin could do was try his best to keep Huo Yuhao away from that bastard Tang San.
Not long after, an image like an unfolded map appeared before his eyes.
Tang Wulin's gaze swept across it, searching in every direction, until his eyes suddenly stopped.
When that thousand-year Mandala Snake burst from the bushes, Bei Bei and Tang Ya's expressions changed instantly, while Huo Yuhao subconsciously retreated half a step.
Its body was as thick as a water barrel. Its dark green scales glimmered with a cold, eerie light in the dimness, and each flick of its tongue carried a sickly sweet stench. It moved so quickly that it left an afterimage behind.
Tang Wulin merely stamped his foot lightly.
The Golden Dragon King bloodline within him seemed to ignite in that instant. Golden light exploded from beneath his feet and surged upward through his meridians. His blood and qi churned and reversed in a moment, producing a low rumble like rolling thunder.
The air within fifteen feet of him suddenly twisted, and even the scattered pebbles on the ground bounced from the shock.
"Golden Dragon Ascension!"
A golden pillar of light shot skyward from beneath his feet, splitting into four. Four golden dragon phantoms, each only as thick as an arm, burst from the pillar. Their bodies were formed entirely from pure bloodline power, every scale distinct, their whiskers streaming in the air, each golden scale flowing with dazzling light.
The four golden dragons gave a clear dragon's roar and howled toward the Mandala Snake.
The Mandala Snake clearly had not reacted in time.
It opened its jaws, and a mass of dark green venom gathered on its fangs as it prepared to spit. But the first golden dragon had already slammed into the vital point seven inches below its head.
With a muffled bang, the snake's body arched violently. Its venom sprayed off target, splashing over the nearby bushes, which instantly withered and blackened.
The second golden dragon immediately struck its belly. The third and fourth attacked from both sides at once. The four golden dragons weaved across the snake's body in turns, and every impact was accompanied by a dull crack of shattering bones.
