The golden orb instantly entered Tang Wulin's sea of consciousness and soon fell silent.
Tang Wulin walked over and sat down on a fallen tree trunk.
With his legs crossed, elbows resting on his knees, and one hand propping up his chin, he watched the impending sacrifice with casual composure.
Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's body bloomed with a soft, crystalline ice-blue radiance.
The light flowed like rippling water, gently enveloping Huo Yuhao's entire body.
Starting from its tail, his enormous insect body gradually turned transparent.
Countless tiny ice-blue specks drifted and gathered like fireflies filling the sky.
In the end, they condensed into a long, delicate stream of light that steadily poured into Huo Yuhao's brow.
Huo Yuhao's body suddenly tensed and arched, a heavily suppressed groan escaping his throat.
Tang Wulin sat quietly atop the deadwood, watching the unending stream of origin light pour into Huo Yuhao's sea of consciousness.
As he watched the boy's tightly furrowed brows and taut lips, not a ripple stirred in his eyes.
Most of Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's body had already become transparent. Only a hazy phantom remained in midair.
His final voice rang out softly, carrying relief and liberation as it brought an end to a million years of lonely exhaustion.
"Little brother, don't forget what you promised me."
Tang Wulin slightly raised his chin in acknowledgment.
As the words faded, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's last wisp of a phantom completely dispersed into the air.
The ice-blue motes filling the sky all surged into Huo Yuhao's brow, and the sacrifice was complete.
Huo Yuhao's body shuddered violently before settling into complete stillness.
His breathing became deep and steady, while a faint, barely perceptible warm glow appeared between his brows.
Tang Wulin rose from the fallen tree and patted the fine wood chips from his robes.
He walked over to Huo Yuhao's side, crouched down, and reached out to check his pulse.
"Not bad. He's not dead."
He withdrew his hand and muttered to himself.
Then he got up and ran over to Bei Bei. After hesitating for a moment, he lightly slapped Bei Bei's face. After all, if he hit too hard, Bei Bei could pretty much say goodbye to tomorrow's sun.
But even though he had slapped him very lightly, Bei Bei's face still swelled up at once.
Deep within the Star Dou Great Forest, in the core region.
The surface of Lake of Life was as calm as a silver mirror polished over and over, reflecting the layered canopy above and the scattered rays of daylight filtering through. A tiny ripple suddenly spread across the lake's center, as though something beneath the water had turned over.
The next instant, the ripples abruptly expanded, and an enormous silver figure slowly rose from the heart of the lake.
It was a giant dragon, its entire body covered in silver-white scales. Every scale flowed with a cold sheen like moonlight, refracting a seven-colored halo through the mist.
It still appeared somewhat weak, but the innate pressure that stood above all dragons made even the surrounding air grow heavy.
The silver dragon hovered several yards above the lake, its head slightly raised. Its silver vertical pupils gazed in a certain direction, piercing through layers of forest barriers as though seeing something far away.
A black-robed figure silently appeared on the shore.
Di Tian dropped to one knee, his head bowed in utmost respect. Even his breathing softened, as though afraid of disturbing the being on the lake who was gazing into the distance.
"My Lord? You..." he ventured, his voice extremely low.
The silver dragon's eyes narrowed slightly. A complex emotion flashed through those vertical pupils, as though she had confirmed something, yet was hesitating over something else.
After a moment, she slowly spoke. Her voice was cold and ethereal, carrying an ancient echo that did not belong to humans. "I sensed it. The Golden Dragon King's aura. He is at Shrek Academy."
Di Tian's body trembled slightly as he abruptly raised his head. No wonder he had always been able to sense it but never find it. It was at Shrek Academy. It seemed the Golden Dragon King had used some power to conceal himself.
The silver dragon lowered her eyes and glanced at him before continuing, "I will make him willingly offer his bloodline to me."
Her tone was calm and flat, as though she were merely stating something self-evident.
The moment her words fell, a wave suddenly exploded across the lake's surface!
The silver dragon's enormous body rapidly shrank and condensed within the mist. Once the light receded, a girl who looked only eleven or twelve stood several inches above the water. Her long silver hair hung to her ankles, drifting faintly through the windless air.
Her eyes were a pure violet, as clear as pools of melted purple crystal, carrying a serenity wholly unsuited to her age.
Her clothes formed within the light as well: a simple silver-white gown. Its design was plain, yet it made her seem like a flower that had just bloomed from the moonlight.
She slowly descended onto the soft grass by the lake, her bare feet stepping on the moss. Tilting her head slightly, she looked at Di Tian, who was still kneeling on the ground.
"Di Tian."
"Here." Di Tian lowered his head even further.
"Do you have a letter of recommendation for admission to Shrek Academy?" The girl's voice was cold, carrying a trace of lofty authority. "I need to go there."
Di Tian froze for a moment before nodding. "Yes. This subordinate will make the arrangements immediately."
He paused, then cautiously added, "May I ask what identity My Lord will use to enroll?"
The girl fell silent for a moment. She lowered her head and looked at her open palm, those hands still bearing the slender contours of a child's.
"Gu Yuena," she said. "That is my name. As for my identity, naturally, I will be a new student."
She paused, then repeated in an even voice, "Gu Yuena. Call me Gu Yuena from now on."
Di Tian lowered his head and answered, "Yes." He asked no further questions. His body silently retreated into the shadows of the forest like a wisp of black smoke, quickly vanishing from sight.
Gu Yuena stood where she was, with damp soil and moss beneath her feet and ancient branches and leaves blotting out the sky above her.
She raised a hand and brushed aside a lock of silver hair hanging beside her face. Her gaze passed through layer upon layer of shadows cast by the trees, looking toward a distant direction beyond the Star Dou Great Forest.
That direction was Shrek City.
The light in her violet eyes flickered slightly.
Golden Dragon King!
Dragon God! You will surely return!
Then she turned around and walked toward the direction in which Di Tian had disappeared. Her bare feet stepped upon the fallen leaves without making a sound.
Meanwhile, while observing Huo Yuhao, this so-called rising star, the God Realm once again noticed Tang Wulin.
At that moment, Tang San was in the God Realm, clutching his hair with a bewildered expression.
"San, why do you look so troubled?" Dai Mubai asked in confusion.
After hesitating for a moment, Tang San shifted aside the view of the lower realm.
Dai Mubai spotted Tang Wulin at a glance. "Damn, why does this kid look so much like you and Xiao Wu? What martial souls does he have?"
"Blue Silver Emperor, Clear Sky Hammer..." Tang San answered with great uncertainty.
"Did you have twins back then?" Dai Mubai blurted out.
Tang San stroked his chin, looking troubled. "That's what I think too."
