Guilliman was busy deploying troops to attack the Aeldari defenses, while Sanguinius successfully led the Blood Angels in surrounding Konrad Curze amid the ruins.
The buildings Konrad Curze had used to hide and maneuver through had been destroyed, but that was hardly an irreparable loss. With a thought from Isha, psychic power could restore this place to its previous state.
Nor did the civilians buried beneath the rubble need to worry. They would only feel as though they had taken a long nap, during which they had enjoyed what they believed to be a perfect celebration.
"Konrad Curze! You have nowhere left to run!" Sanguinius shouted majestically. The Blood Angels stood behind him, encircling Konrad Curze from every side. At a single command from the Angel, countless shells would rain down upon him.
Konrad Curze's mouth twitched. "You madman. Your true nature is just like Lion El'Jonson's—barbaric."
"Barbaric?" Sanguinius restrained his anger. "That is because you refuse to repent! You have challenged my limits again and again. Now every mockery will be punished! Everyone, heed my command!"
Konrad Curze curled his lip disdainfully. He had never feared death, especially now that these bullets would merely put him to sleep.
He only regretted that he could no longer torment Sanguinius and enjoy the furious look on his face.
"Wait! Sanguinius!" A mass of shadow flew in from afar, landing beside Konrad Curze and taking human form.
At the sight of Corax, some reason finally returned to Sanguinius's face. He bore no ill will toward this brother, so he ordered the Blood Angels not to act rashly and waited to see what Corax intended to do.
Corax turned around and looked at Konrad Curze as he was now, his expression complicated.
Sigh... He wasn't as dear as he used to be.
