Magnus controlled his voice, making sure not to lace it with psychic influence to guide the Doctor's will. After all, this Doctor wrapped in heavy clothing was far too mysterious. If he noticed Magnus using psychic powers, things might not end well.
The Doctor pondered for a moment, then began with the patterns on Magnus's armor. "The snake motifs on this armor remind me of Sargon, and your crimson skin makes me think of the blazing sun. Are you from the Sargon region? And is your brother from the frigid Sami? No, no, no... Your brother's presence is far more dangerous than the people of Sami's. Perhaps he comes from the northern regions of Ursus?"
Magnus had no concept of the places the Doctor mentioned. He merely responded with a smile, allowing this clever man to speculate about the origins of the two of them.
After all, no matter how he guessed, could he possibly imagine that a cross-dimensional gateway connecting to another world had appeared on this land of Terra?
Seeing Magnus remain silent and offer only a friendly smile, the Doctor realized that the two were unwilling to reveal too much about their past.
Secrets meant little to Rhodes Island. He himself was the ghost of Babel, one who had lost his memories of the past, while Kal'tsit, who had lived for tens of thousands of years, oversaw the Rhodes Island Ark headquarters.
The Doctor had seen more than once people drawing their blades to help others in need. Many of the Operators currently active in Rhodes Island had joined it in just such a manner.
Rhodes Island's inclusive friendliness differed from the cruel and harsh methods of other organizations on this land. That was why it could continually draw people in, people willing to swear to protect
