The Word Bearers charged forward under Lorgar's leadership. Together with Roboute Guilliman's Ultramarines, they were the two largest Legions in the Imperium of Man. If they deployed in full, they could even plug every breach in the defensive lines for a short time.
"The defenses have fallen! Fall back behind the Holy Shield! May the Emperor bless the souls of the fallen!" Lorgar charged at the forefront, brandishing his Truth Scepter with such imposing momentum that one might wonder whether he was still that somewhat indecisive bearer of truth.
Facing the daemons before him, he felt an endless power of justice burning within him. Every blow was praise for the Emperor, and every kill was an exposition of the Emperor's holiness.
Unlike many of his somewhat despairing brothers, Lorgar felt better than ever at this moment. So did the Word Bearers!
They had found the supreme meaning of their existence in the war against daemons. They ought to serve as a holy crusading army belonging to the Emperor, fighting the forces of evil forevermore. This was recorded in the religious scriptures of countless worlds!
The other Legions had taken up faith in the Emperor merely out of expediency, while they had taken it up by returning to their old trade!
Such intense faith even stirred a resonance in the Warp, drawing out a portion of the power of truth, goodness, and beauty from that chaotic space and draping it over them.
The Word Bearers Legionnaires rushed to the front lines, and warriors from the other Legions were astonished to discover that their bolters seemed connected to an ammunition store, capable of firing without end.
Their chainswords were wreathed in golden flames, and their armor gleamed with golden radiance. Ordinary daemons would have their legs turn weak just standing before them.
