Seeing that Lorgar's thoughts were thoroughly muddled, Lin Fan fell silent. First, he had no idea what else to say. Second, Lorgar would come up with all sorts of ideas on his own, just as he had once done with The Emperor.
Before long, Lorgar lay sprawled over Magnus without moving. No one could see his face, nor could they guess what he was thinking.
Once Lorgar had quieted down, Magnus asked Lin Fan, "What exactly are you?" There was no religious implication in his words, only a scholar's curiosity.
Lin Fan gave a bitter smile. "Would you believe me if I said I was human?"
"Ha!" Magnus curled his lip and answered Lin Fan with a humorless laugh.
"Now isn't the time for bad jokes." Leman Russ spoke as well. He had harsher words to say, but feared provoking Lin Fan and kept them to himself.
You're merely wearing human skin. In essence, you're more terrifying than the four Chaos Gods we've fought for ten thousand years.
Seeing the disbelief written all over their faces, Lin Fan began to organize his thoughts. Was he supposed to tell them that their world was merely a passage in a book? That he himself was a human from beyond that book's world? If they truly got tangled up in that kind of nested-world logic, it would never end.
Before Lin Fan could explain, Isha softly spoke from the side. "He is the Subjective One, an existence active as early as the War in Heaven."
"Subjective One..." The Primarchs savored the term. Magnus asked again, "The structure of that name resembles
