The dull routine of school life repeated day after day.
Qin Yi believed his strength was enough to protect himself. After resolving not to casually fight others, he began studying seriously.
Watching Qin Yi diligently conduct experiments at home, Howard could not help thinking of himself and Tony when they were younger. As an arms dealer famous since World War II, Howard had not enjoyed such a leisurely life in a long time after founding S.H.I.E.L.D.
Especially after retiring, when he began picking Qin Yi up from school, Howard suddenly felt that perhaps this was the life he had always wanted.
Thinking of how his busy schedule had deprived Tony of a proper childhood, he felt deeply guilty.
Whenever Howard explained various subjects to Qin Yi, Tony—who had graduated from MIT at seventeen—would join in as well.
The relationship between father and son had eased considerably.
After setting the goal of studying hard and improving every day, Qin Yi took advantage of his abilities. With his photographic memory, he made rapid progress in this Marvel Universe, where the tech tree was somewhat skewed.
Howard and Tony both found it unbelievable. Howard even joked to Tony, "Maybe your little brother will break your record of graduating from MIT at seventeen."
Their quiet, peaceful life was suddenly disrupted by a blonde woman and a one-eyed man.
That day, outside New York City No. 1 Primary School.
Howard was picking Qin Yi up after school. As they chatted on their way home, a one-eyed man and a blonde woman blocked their path.
Qin Yi glanced at the one-eyed Black man, who looked as though he had only recently put on his eyepatch and was still not used to it, and could not help saying—
"Motherfucker...?"
Howard helplessly pursed his lips at Qin Yi. "Qin, you're not old enough to swear."
The one-eyed man stepped forward and saluted Howard.
"Sir!"
"So it's Fury... I'm retired already. What is this about?"
Howard asked Nick Fury and the blonde woman beside him.
Qin Yi looked at the blonde woman, Carol Danvers, who was staring intently at him.
According to the plot, wasn't she supposed to be following Talos and the Skrulls aboard the cruiser to find a new home, while moonlighting as a cosmic cop?
Why had she come looking for him instead? He had not messed with any timeline lately.
Nick Fury pondered for a moment before speaking.
"Sir, actually, we came for him."
Seeing Nick Fury point at Qin Yi, Howard recalled his earlier suspicions. Combined with the government's recent all-out crackdown on Mutants, he assumed Nick Fury had come to arrest Qin Yi.
Howard hurriedly shielded Qin Yi behind him.
"Nick Fury, he is my child, not what you think he is."
Nick Fury stared at Howard in confusion, then turned to Carol as if asking for confirmation before looking again at Qin Yi behind Howard.
Carol stepped forward.
"Fury, perhaps it would be better if I spoke with him."
Seeing Carol prepare to make a move, Howard hurriedly reached for his pistol, but Qin Yi stopped him.
"It's fine, Uncle. I'll talk to them."
Qin Yi stepped forward and stared at Nick Fury and Carol.
"Are you sure you want to talk here?"
Howard looked at the tense trio, then thought about the Mutants and superpowered people who had been appearing all over the world recently. Perhaps a certain plan could be implemented ahead of schedule.
Nick Fury turned to Carol and muttered—
"There are too many people near the school. It could cause unnecessary trouble. Let's go to the outskirts."
Soon, the group drove to an abandoned farm on the outskirts.
Carol got out and walked up to Qin Yi.
"Hand over the Space Stone, and we won't make things difficult for you."
Qin Yi froze for a moment. "What are you talking about?"
Holy shit. How did she know I took the Space Stone?
He could not figure it out.
He should not have been discovered then. Every Skrull on the ship had been affected by his reality-altering power. There was no way they could have noticed him.
Carol tapped the screen on her arm.
A holographic recording appeared... It showed surveillance footage of Qin Yi taking the Tesseract, then secretly putting it back later.
Qin Yi was instantly speechless. The cameras had caught him red-handed... How embarrassing.
A few days earlier.
Carol, Nick Fury, and the others had taken Talos to find Mar-Vell's laboratory—the invisible Kree cruiser.
Then they had been captured by a squad led by Yon-Rogg, commander of the Kree Starforce. When Yon-Rogg obtained the Tesseract, the Supreme Intelligence identified it as a cube with no energy at all.
Yon-Rogg believed it was a fake Tesseract and began questioning Carol and the others.
What followed proceeded according to the unchanged plotline.
Captain Marvel Carol rampaged through everyone in her path and drove off the Kree fleet led by Ronan.
Then, while everyone was studying the Tesseract aboard the cruiser—
With Talos's prompt, they finally found the footage of Qin Yi switching the Tesseract through the cruiser's surveillance system.
Fine. This time, technology had defeated magic.
Carol stared at the absentminded Qin Yi. Ever since her powers had surged, she had become more impatient.
"You'd better hand it over now!"
Qin Yi sized up the supremely confident Carol standing before him. It seemed a fight was unavoidable.
"Want to settle this with our fists?" Qin Yi asked Carol indifferently.
Nick Fury stared at Qin Yi in surprise. He had witnessed Carol's powers with his own eyes—she could tear apart alien warships with her bare hands, fly through the sky, and do practically anything.
He clearly did not believe Qin Yi could be Carol's match. Qin Yi looked young, too. Even if Professor X and Charles, the strongest Mutants on Earth, joined forces, they would not be Carol's opponents.
But faced with Qin Yi, who looked about ten years old, Carol did not know how to strike. The situation grew awkward for a moment.
Qin Yi waved his hand helplessly. The Mirror Dimension spread out instantly, enveloping the entire farm. At the same time, two energy spheres protected Howard and Nick Fury.
"This way, you won't have to hold back," Qin Yi said to Captain Marvel Carol.
Carol looked at the Mirror Dimension Qin Yi had casually created, as well as Howard and Nick Fury being protected. She clearly felt she could finally fight without restraint.
Golden light wrapped around Carol's body, making her look like a Celestial descending upon the world.
Howard began worrying about Qin Yi. Meanwhile, Nick Fury poked the energy sphere protecting them with his hand. Finding it incredibly sturdy, he looked at Qin Yi in astonishment.
Qin Yi glanced at the prepared Carol and thought this was a good chance to test how strong his body had become.
Carol lunged forward, punching down at Qin Yi from midair. Her golden-light-wreathed fist carried an unstoppable force as it slammed into Qin Yi's chest.
With a bang, a shockwave exploded outward from the two of them. The farm within the Mirror Dimension was instantly reduced to rubble.
Nick Fury's eyes went wide, his face full of disbelief.
"Motherfucker?"
Feeling the force behind her punch, Qin Yi pursed his lips at the equally incredulous Carol before him.
Then he punched Carol in the shoulder, blasting her straight away.
Carol landed, shook her head, and flew into the air. With both fists clenched toward Qin Yi, dazzling energy gathered in them. Qin Yi stood still, watching Carol charge up.
Finally, two brilliant blasts of energy shot from Carol's fists toward Qin Yi, ripping twin trenches through the fields along their path.
Qin Yi waved his hand at the incoming energy blasts, and they were immediately swallowed by a vortex that appeared above his head.
Carol began unleashing energy in a wild barrage from both hands.
Qin Yi merely stood there calmly, watching beam after beam vanish into the vortex above him.
It would be a waste not to absorb such a great energy pack.
After firing off abilities for a long while, Carol stopped in midair.
In the instant she paused to think, an energy arm appeared behind Qin Yi and grabbed Carol directly.
Seeing Carol struggle inside the energy hand, Howard let out a long breath of relief. Nick Fury, beside him, stared wide-eyed and blankly, afraid he might miss something. He was so excited that even his dark face had turned a little red.
The sight of Qin Yi casually subduing Carol was deeply etched into his mind.
Then Qin Yi waved at Carol, who had stopped struggling, and set her down.
The moment Carol landed and tried to rush forward again, a spell instantly bound her in place.
"I said, that's enough, right? Beautiful, even if you drain all your energy, you still won't be able to hit me."
Carol said to Qin Yi dejectedly—
"Let me go."
"Okay, okay. I'm just someone who wants to live an ordinary life. From now on, let's stay out of each other's way."
After lazily saying that to Nick Fury, Qin Yi waved his hand and dispelled the Mirror Dimension.
After leaving the Mirror Dimension, everyone stared blankly at the completely intact farm before them, each lost in their own thoughts.
Qin Yi walked over to Howard.
They watched Qin Yi and Howard drive away.
A moment later—
Carol said to Nick Fury, "Leaving the Space Stone with him should be safer."
Nick Fury nodded silently, staring thoughtfully in the direction Qin Yi had gone.
On the way home, Howard was clearly preoccupied.
After pondering for a while, he said to Qin Yi, "Remember to use your abilities wisely, child."
"Don't worry, Uncle. I'm too lazy to fight people. Right now, I just want to break Tony's graduation record.
Every time we eat, he brings it up one way or another."
Howard smiled. "Tony usually doesn't brag about that. Clearly, when it comes to you, he feels there is nothing else he can surpass you in. It seems he still wants to preserve the dignity of being an older brother."
Fine. That damned competitive streak.
Thinking about what would happen later, Qin Yi asked Howard—
"Uncle, if I knew someone's life path and knew what would happen in their life, should I do something to change it? Should I help them avoid some bad experiences and give them a good ending?"
Howard thought for a while.
"Child, whether good or bad, every experience is part of a person's growth. I imagine the bad ending you mentioned was also the result of their own choice."
The car slowly arrived at Howard Estate, and Qin Yi said nothing more.
After getting out, Howard and Qin Yi entered the living room.
Maria and Tony had clearly been waiting for some time.
"Why are you so late today? Qin, come eat. You must be hungry." Maria quickly stood and pulled Qin Yi over.
"We ran into an old colleague on the road and chatted for a bit," Howard casually answered his wife's question.
Tony took out a box from behind his back and handed it to Qin Yi.
"Here. The tablet computer you mentioned before. This is the first batch. It should be ready for mass production in a few months."
Qin Yi smiled happily. "Thanks, bro."
As expected of the genius Tony Stark. If there was a problem, find Tony. Reliable!
Tony looked at Qin Yi helplessly.
"I'm only twenty-five, okay?"
"So when are you planning to get married?" Qin Yi stabbed him again.
Tony stared speechlessly at Qin Yi as he ate.
Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, Nick Fury's office.
After accepting the box of assorted eyeballs that Coulson had selected for him, Nick Fury lowered his head in thought.
Captain Marvel Carol had already left Earth.
After seeing alien technology, Mutants, and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s internal records, Nick Fury felt that the recent events had surpassed both his understanding and control.
Especially that little boy from the Stark family...
Nick Fury then typed a line on his computer.
