More and more people were invited to Mo Tuo's camp. Before long, the camp had become bustling, with over twenty gang leaders alone having been invited.
Gray gave them the same answer Mo Tuo had: those willing to join were welcome, while those unwilling would not be forced to stay.
The leaders willing to join brought their men to Mo Tuo's camp and followed Gray's arrangements, preparing to leave together later. But as their numbers grew, Gray noticed a problem.
Too many people had gathered here, while the place itself was too small. It had originally been a small camp capable of housing only around a hundred people, but now over a thousand had gathered, with more still on their way.
Although everyone was used to the Underhive's environment and could sleep anywhere, the main problem was that there was not enough food.
Mo Tuo looked at Gray and said anxiously:
"Our food is nowhere near enough for so many people. Even if those leaders bring food themselves, it will be consumed faster during the long journey.
Even if we leave now, that won't work either. Some people are still on their way, and they'll have objections if we leave without them. Those leaders said they would only feel safe if we went together."
Gray was helpless in the face of this situation. The small amount of food the three of them had brought was not even enough to fill the gaps between so many people's teeth.
Gray said helplessly, "How about this? I'll head back alone first, ask my lord to think of a solution, and bring back enough food."
After hearing Gray's words, Mo Tuo could only say helplessly, "All right. That's the only arrangement we can make."
Gray left David and Nack behind to help Mo Tuo manage things and protect the large group. So many people gathering here so suddenly would definitely attract the attention of raiders, who might attack.
Gray quickly left alone and headed back to the base. Even with Gray's current physical abilities, it would still take him three Terra hours to return.
Not long after leaving the camp, Gray sensed that someone was following him. Though he had spent the past three months training his body rather than learning combat, his long experience surviving in the Underhive still allowed him to notice easily.
Gray walked through the darkness, then suddenly darted aside and hid. The people following him immediately panicked and rushed toward the place where Gray had disappeared.
Gray emerged from another dark corner and came up behind them to observe the situation. There were more than thirty pursuers in total.
All of them carried firearms. Among them were the leaders of two camps, one of whom had supposedly been willing to follow everyone and join the Lord of the Stars.
Gray quickly assessed the situation and found that, although there were over thirty of them, they posed no threat to him. He took the initiative and asked,
"Brother Sida, why are you following me? And why are you with that man who refused to leave with us?"
Hearing Gray's voice behind them, the group that had been chasing him shuddered in fright. They stopped, raised their guns, and turned to aim them at Gray.
Sida, whom Gray had addressed, was equally incredulous. He had never expected that while they were following Gray, the situation would suddenly reverse and Gray would end up following them instead.
Faced with Gray's confused question, Sida said viciously, "Gray, tell us where your base is, and I can spare your life."
Gray had received the answer he wanted and understood the thoughts of Sida and the other leader.
"Another bunch of arrogant fools."
Gray muttered in dissatisfaction.
Sida's goal was clear: he wanted to learn the location of the base and then rob it. He did not care how powerful Gray claimed the Lord of the Stars was.
In their narrow-minded view, no one in this world could be that powerful. No matter how strong a person was, they would still be killed by the fire of dozens of guns.
Gray felt there was nothing more to say between them. Without hesitation, he drew his laser pistol and fired at the group before him.
As he fired, Gray sprinted at high speed. With his inhuman speed, it was difficult for ordinary people on the other side to hit him while he ran.
"Argh! Argh!"
Those who had been shot fell to the ground, screaming and wailing.
"Fight back! Fight back! Kill him!"
Seeing Gray dare to attack their many men alone, and seeing several people killed in an instant, the two leaders roared furiously.
The battle began quickly and ended just as quickly. Within a few minutes, Gray had killed all thirty-plus enemies. He himself had been struck in the chest several times by rifle fire, but the nano bulletproof vest prevented any fatal injuries.
After dealing with his opponents, Gray stepped forward and put another shot through each of their heads. When he reached Sida, Gray found that Sida was not quite dead yet. Though he had taken a shot to the chest, he was still stubbornly clinging to life.
Lying heavily wounded on the ground, Sida saw Gray point his gun at his head and immediately begged.
"Leader Gray, I was wrong. Please spare me."
Pfft!
Gray answered Sida with a beam of laser fire. A bloody hole appeared in Sida's head, and his eyes were filled with deep terror.
After cleaning up the aftermath of the battle, Gray quickly left.
Inside a laboratory aboard the Lord of the Stars Flagship, the Art Student looked at the little giant standing before him with a highly satisfied expression, completely ignoring the terror on the little giant's face.
The Art Student looked at the data on his tablet concerning the Space Marines.
After seven years of research, during which the Art Student had continuously improved the genetic enhancement serum, the most perfect result now stood before him.
Genetically enhanced warrior test subject No. 885 was a member of a raider gang from the Underhive, a piece of trash who took pleasure in killing the poor.
The test subject had originally stood only 1.7 meters tall. After training his body in a high-gravity environment, he had now reached 2.8 meters, possessing tremendous physical strength and astonishing destructive power.
The explosive strength of one arm using pure physical power alone reached fifty tons. He was the strongest survivor among a thousand genetically enhanced warriors subjected to experimentation. Even the weakest successful genetically enhanced warrior had an explosive one-arm strength of ten tons.
If test subject No. 885 wore the Star Power Armor developed by the Art Student, his individual strength should rival that of the Imperium's earliest Thunder Warriors.
However, the Art Student possessed no information on the Imperium's Space Marines. This was merely his own estimate, but he was already extremely satisfied that pure flesh and blood could reach such a level of strength.
After all, no matter how perfect figures looked on paper, they had to be tested by war. War was not something that could be decided by data alone; otherwise, everyone could simply lay out the specifications of their weapons and determine who was stronger.
War was also affected by all kinds of environmental factors.
