Swarm Prince
On the fifth day, the insect swarms began to descend.
Countless Tyranids poured down from the sky like heavy rain, hitting the city, hitting the streets, and hitting those suspended platforms.
Sons of the Sky's warriors rushed out of the bunker, faced the insect swarm, and used decomposition weapons to crush Tyranids one by one.
Their tactics are precise and efficient. They work in groups of ten, one person shoots, one person charges, one person guards, and one person heals.
But in the face of the tide-like offensive of the insect swarm, even the most sophisticated machine will be overwhelmed.
A soldier was pierced through the chest by the sharp claw of Hormagaunt. He did not scream, but just held the sharp claw and detonated the core of Psionic Energy.
The explosion turned dozens of surrounding Tyranids into nothingness.
His companions had no time to grieve, for more Tyranids had already arrived.
On the sixth day, no complete buildings could be seen on the surface of Viridian.
The city was razed to the ground by the swarm, and the corpses of Tyranids and the remains of Sons of the Sky warriors were piled on the streets.
Those suspended platforms fell one after another, hitting the ground and splashing dust all over the sky.
Astria stood in the ruins of the command tower, holding a cup of cold stardust tea in his hand.
She didn't drink, she just looked at the sky outside the window and looked at the large Tyranids creatures that were landing.
The Tyrant, the Executioner, and the Hive Guard are each about the size of Titans, and each requires dozens of elite warriors to contain them.
Most of her advisers have died.
The rest are leading the remaining warriors in every corner of the galaxy to make the final resistance.
The seventh day.
The insect swarm created something new in the ruins of Viridian.
Incubation pond.
In the deepest part of Hive Ship, in that warm, constantly pulsating nest of flesh and blood made of organic matter, twenty-one huge embryos are growing slowly.
They are not ordinary Tyranids.
They are the ultimate creations designed by Hive Mind specifically for those beings called "Primarch" in this Milky Way.
The swarm devoured Astartes - those Space Marines who fought in Milky Way. Their bodies were recovered by the swarm, their genes were analyzed by Hive Mind, and their combat data were compiled into the swarm's tactical library.
From those genes, Hive Mind selected the best parts - strength, speed, reaction, Psionic Energy talent, fighting instinct - and integrated them with Tyranids's own biotechnology to create a brand new killing weapon.
Twenty-one embryos.
Twenty-one creations.
Each one corresponds to one Primarch of Imperium of Man.
Their eggshells shattered at the same time.
Dark green nutrient solution gushes out from the cracks, causing ripples in the hatching pond.
The first creature stepped out of the eggshell. It was four meters tall, with a slender and powerful body, and the proportions of its limbs were almost exactly the same as those of humans.
But it has no human face - its head is a smooth, featureless chitin helmet, with only two slender slits glowing blue and white at the position of the eyes.
Its body is covered with a thick biological carapace, and the surface of the carapace has fine lines like muscle fibers.
The carapace is not hard, but flexible, and can expand and contract with its movements.
The end of its arm is not a hand, but a long knife extending from the bone, with dark green energy flowing on the blade.
There are two pairs of wings as thin as cicada wings on its back.
It opened its mouth and let out a low murmur.
It was not the scream of Tyranids, but the imitation of human language, with a jerky texture, like a blade scraping glass.
"For...Great Devourer."
The second, third, fourth... twenty-one creatures came out of the eggshell one after another, arranged in a neat queue.
Their postures vary - some are silent, some are irritable, some are swinging the bone blades on their arms, and some are testing the strength of their wings.
But the auras on them are the same, that cold, bloodthirsty aura that is only for killing.
The last one to walk out was the four-and-a-half-meter-tall creature.
It is taller than other creations, its carapace is thicker, and its weapons are more ferocious.
There are no wings on its back, but there are two rows of fine fin-like bone plates on its back, with dark green energy lines flowing between the bone plates.
It holds a giant sword in its hand. The sword body is composed of countless tiny biomass crystals. It emits colorful, rainbow-like light under the refraction of light - it is a biological sword extracted by Hive Mind from Sons of the Sky's Psionic Energy technology and can cut any Material Universe shield.
It walked to the front of the queue, turned around, and its blue-white slits swept across every creation.
"The incarnation of Swarm Prince. Great Devourer's will."
It raised the biological sword in its hand, pointing the tip of the sword into the void.
"For Great Devourer. March towards Milky Way. March towards those lives that can be swallowed. March towards Imperium of Man. We will obtain the laws of eternity and atoms. We will be completely transcendent."
Swarm Prince stepped onto the ground of Viridian.
Its foot stepped on the broken Psionic Energy crystal, making a tiny sound like glass being crushed.
Behind it, twenty creations followed silently like its shadow.
Their steps are not fast, but each step covers an extremely long distance.
Their bodies dragged out dark green afterimages in the air. They were moving too fast and the air had no time to fill the traces left behind.
Sons of the Sky's warriors saw them.
An elite combat team of a hundred people stood in front of them.
They lined up in a dense shooting formation, firing their disintegrating weapons at the same time.
The silver-white beam of light was like a giant net, shrouding Swarm Prince.
Those beams are enough to melt Titans's armor, enough to blow an asteroid into pieces.
Swarm Prince did not hide.
It just raised its left hand and spread its fingers.
A shield condensed with dark green energy unfolded in front of its palm, and those silver-white beams of light hit the shield like raindrops hitting the lake surface, only causing circles of fine ripples.
It put down its hand, and a hint of impatience flashed through the blue-white slits of its pair.
It moved.
Its figure disappeared from the spot.
The next second, it appeared in the center of the hundred-man combat group.
The biological sword spun in its hand, and the blade drew a perfect arc.
Wherever the arc passed, the Sons of the Sky soldier's body was neatly cut open from the waist.
There was no scream, no blood, because the energy on the blade burned the wound the moment it was cut.
One, two, five, ten, fifty.
Three seconds.
One hundred Sons of the Sky elite warriors, all fell.
Swarm Prince shook off the ashes on the sword blade and continued to move forward.
The twenty creatures behind him didn't even take action. They just followed quietly, as if they were taking a routine walk.
Astria stood in the ruins of the command tower and saw all this.
Her fingers were trembling, not with fear, but with anger.
She wanted to rush down and use her 12,000 years of accumulated Psionic Energy to fight to the death with that monster.
But she didn't move.
Because she knew that nothing could be changed if she rushed down.
The combat effectiveness of those twenty-one creations has far exceeded the upper limit of her assessment.
They are not here to fight, they are here to harvest.
