Lu Chen's face was filled with disbelief. He held Ling Xia's trembling body tightly and said gravely to Doctor Yi and the others, "You must have gotten it wrong. Ling Xia and I have known each other for five years. I've even been to her home. How could you possibly fail to find it?"
Doctor Yi said calmly, "Lu Chen, memories can deceive, but reality cannot. I understand how you feel, and Ling Xia exists in my memories as well. But so what? Those are merely false memories."
"Take Ling Xia away."
The soldiers closed in step by step. Lu Chen drew his pistol and shielded Ling Xia behind him, his eyes bloodshot like an enraged lion.
"I don't believe Ling Xia is a fake person. I won't let you hurt her!"
Doctor Yi sighed. "Lu Chen, if you don't believe it, you can go take a look at Ling Xia's home. Could all of us really be lying to you?"
Lu Chen's body shuddered, and the hand holding his gun began to tremble. "Ling Xia..."
Ling Xia, in his arms, had long since been reduced to tears.
Doctor Yi continued, "Lu Chen, wake up. Your five years of memories with Ling Xia are all false. In truth, before today, you didn't know Ling Xia at all. When you went on this mission, Ling Xia infiltrated your team."
"Are you really going to attack your companions at the base for a fake person you've known for less than a day?"
Lu Chen's face instantly went pale. His right hand, still holding the gun, dropped limply, but he still refused to give up completely.
"I want to see Ling Xia's home."
"Fine." Doctor Yi nodded, then arranged for the soldiers to surround everyone as they headed toward Ling Xia's home.
