"Every day," Bai Ye answered honestly.
Doctor: "..."
"Since you're a man of talent, I can tell you what Truth is-as long as you submit to me."
Bai Ye valued Doctor's research into space and time. If he could bring Doctor under his command, he would unlock more time-based abilities.
Yet Doctor shook his head. "Words cannot describe Truth. Even if you told me, the information I received would not be Truth itself. Some things must be witnessed firsthand."
"Then do you know that you'll die after seeing Truth?"
Bai Ye recalled Doctor's miserable state before. He knew Doctor did not fear death, but after seeing White God, he had suffered something worse than death: the utter collapse of his convictions.
"If I learn the Way in the morning, I can die content that evening." That was Doctor's answer.
Bai Ye gave up on the idea of bringing Doctor under his command. He knew full well that someone who lived purely for Truth would never submit.
Even if he told Doctor about Truth, Doctor would still go and witness it himself, then die.
"Since you're doomed to die, you might as well die now."
"Please wait, Black King. I'd like to make a deal with you."
Bai Ye regarded Doctor with interest. Had he realized he couldn't win a fight and decided to talk his way out instead?
"What deal?"
Doctor did not answer directly. Instead, he brought up the forbidden domain. "Since you know about the forbidden domain, Black King, you must also know that all supernatural power comes from it."
Uh... I actually didn't know that.
Bai Ye nodded. "Of course I do."
"For Transcendents, the more you possess, the more contamination you suffer. I wasn't responsible for opening the forbidden domain.
