Blood pooled beneath Bai Ye's feet. By all rights, even a Transcendent's physique could not have sustained such an ordeal, yet he had somehow endured.
It was not because his physical constitution was strong enough, but because the Scarlet Virus was at work.
Pseudo-Humans infected by the Scarlet Virus possessed terrifying regenerative abilities, nearly immortal bodies. Bai Ye, who was gradually transforming into a Pseudo-Human, could not recover as quickly as one, but he had already surpassed ordinary humans by far.
It was precisely with this regenerative power that he could purge the blood threads from his body.
A minute later, he collapsed to the ground, nearly drained. The Scarlet Virus's restorative ability was not perpetual motion; it came at the cost of draining Blood Qi. In that brief minute, his Blood Qi had been completely exhausted.
Bai Ye's face was as pale as paper, yet the corners of his mouth curled into a smile.
"Does a mere virus dare dream of slaying a god? I'm a god of the New Era!"
He laughed silently. He could sense that the Serum within him had reached some kind of balance with the Scarlet Virus. Before, there had been too many blood threads bred by the virus, leaving the Serum powerless to resist. But as the blood threads were cleared away, the Serum had finally begun to work.
"Damn it! Time!!" Bai Ye's smile abruptly froze. His expression changed drastically as he hurriedly canceled Time Stop, then finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fuck, I almost wasted time..."
He muttered, but his vision gradually blurred. He was not a Pseudo-Human after all, and the massive blood loss ultimately made him pass out.
After an unknown amount of time, Bai Ye was jolted awake by an intense bitterness in his mouth.
