Silan looked around but found no trace of the Troll.
It probably had not arrived yet.
Looking at the sign for the girls' bathroom on the wall, Silan found himself in a bit of a dilemma.
He could hardly just swagger straight in, could he?
After thinking for a while, Silan took out a piece of parchment, wrote a sentence on it, and folded it into a paper crane. He held the crane in his palm and blew on it. Its wings fluttered, and it wobbled into the air.
After circling Silan a few times, the paper crane followed the sound toward the girls' bathroom.
The little girl was hiding in a bathroom stall, crying so hard that tears clung to her eyelashes and blurred her vision.
Then she vaguely heard the rustle of paper trembling.
The sound drew closer and closer. Hermione wiped away her tears with the back of her hand and looked up with wide eyes.
She discovered a paper crane hovering above her head.
Noticing her gaze, the paper crane spiraled down and stopped in front of her.
Hermione noticed that there seemed to be writing on it.
Curiosity made her reach out her hand.
The paper crane hovering in midair slowly settled into her palm, falling still as its wings stopped fluttering.
Hermione unfolded it and saw a sentence written on it:
"Tonight is Halloween Eve. Do you have any candy? If not, come find me. I prepared plenty."
Only Silan would say something like that, she thought.
The little girl hastily wiped her face, carefully folded up the paper crane, and tucked it into her robes.
First, she opened the stall door a crack to see whether anyone was outside.
It would have been rather embarrassing for someone to see her looking like this.
