What Silan had extracted from Fluffy was a "skill," not a "trait."
The difference was that traits were passive, something like personal talents, while skills could be activated at will, much like spells.
Fluffy chased the toy ball around the room.
Silan backed up to the wall and activated Tough Skin with a thought.
In the blink of an eye, his skin turned the same color as Fluffy's coat.
Silan pinched his wrist and found that his skin was as tough as a rocky shell.
He then pointed his wand at the back of his hand and cast a Severing Charm.
The invisible blade swept across the back of Silan's hand, leaving only a faint white mark that soon disappeared.
And that was after he had deliberately strengthened the Severing Charm. If he hadn't kept [Tough Skin] active, that blow would certainly have drawn blood.
After testing his magic resistance, Silan punched the wall.
The thick stone wall gave a dull thud, but Silan felt no significant pain.
A buff to both magic and physical resistance?
Simple, but practical.
The skill could also be leveled up gradually. Later, he could find more animals to extract skills from, such as unicorns, Acromantulas, and Norbert, the dragon Hagrid would soon hatch...
He was only in his first year. There was no rush; he could take his time.
Having achieved his goal, Silan said goodbye to Fluffy and prepared to head back.
Quirrell hunched his shoulders behind the stone wall at the corner, cautiously watching the door to Fluffy's room.
He was puzzled.
That young wizard had been in there for so long. Why hadn't there been any strange noises?
Had Fluffy swallowed him before he could even scream?
With his build, he would probably only take Fluffy two bites.
