Dumbledore rose to his feet. "Welcome, everyone. Before the feast begins, I'd like to say a few words. And they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!"
The food appearing on the long tables diverted the three little ones' attention. They all began stuffing themselves, while Ron grabbed a drumstick in each hand and gnawed away from both sides, his face gleaming with grease.
Oren looked at the food on the table and clicked his tongue.
He took out a bottle of hot sauce and used a few slices of bread and a small serving of salad to make himself a hot sauce sandwich.
Ron asked through a mouthful of food, "Oren, what are you eating?"
"This is from Eastern Tangland... ahem, this is imported hot sauce. It's extremely precious."
Ron stared fixedly at the hot sauce, tears unconsciously flowing from the corners of his mouth.
Oren rolled his eyes and gave each of the three a tiny bit. "You can have a taste too."
Hermione and Harry ate fairly normally, but Ron dipped his chicken legs in hot sauce and gnawed at them from both sides again, his face covered in red oil.
Oren's heart ached. He suddenly felt like he was feeding fine grain to a wild boar.
"Sigh... potatoes and bread, potatoes and bread. This life is impossible."
He had not had much appetite to begin with, and Nearly Headless Nick was still showing off his signature trick of taking off his head. Oren ate a few more pieces of bread.
The food vanished, replaced by a new batch of desserts. Oren was not interested in sweets, so he casually took a piece of cantaloupe. This was clearly something he and Hagrid had grown together.
Not long after dessert began, Harry hugged a head and whispered something to Percy.
Ron was like a merciless eating machine, crazily harvesting all kinds of desserts.
"Want some grape juice?" Oren asked Hermione. "Authentic 1982 grape juice."
The young witch looked around in confusion, seemingly searching for the grape juice.
Oren said, "Stop looking. Where would Hogwarts have something this good? Look at the color, look at the purity."
He casually took out a black glass bottle, placed it on a handkerchief, and poured Hermione a glass. His movements flowed smoothly, elegant, very elegant.
The young witch frowned. Something felt wrong, but she still took a sip.
"Oren!" The young witch lowered her voice. "You call this grape juice? Little wizards aren't allowed to drink alcohol. If we're caught, Professor McGonagall will deduct points!"
"Ahem, Hermione, you've misunderstood me. This must be grape juice that fermented after being left too long." With that, Oren took another sip of fermented grape juice.
Watching Oren drink wine so brazenly, the young witch's brows furrowed even tighter. She looked as though she was about to report him to a professor.
Unable to do anything else, Oren put away the bottle. He could not help it; the system had not given him anything proper for the past six months. If he did not drink it or use it, it would just sit in the system space and annoy him.
The desserts vanished from the tables, and Dumbledore stood up, seemingly about to make an announcement.
"Now that everyone has eaten, I have several notices to announce."
"The Forbidden Forest is out of bounds to all students. Please keep that in mind."
Oren quietly said to the twins, "Hey, Fred, George, that one was aimed at you two."
The twins...
"Filch has asked me to remind everyone not to use magic in the corridors."
"The Quidditch team trials will take place during the second week of this term."
"Finally, anyone who does not wish to suffer an accident and die a painful death should stay away from the corridor on the right-hand side of the fourth floor."
"All right, before everyone goes to bed, let us sing the school song."
The twins looked eager to give it a try, making Oren feel a wave of dread. If those two were so interested, it was definitely related to a prank.
He calmly took out a pair of earplugs. The general store system really was terrifying. Amid the howls and caterwauling, Oren took no noise damage and calmly picked at his ears.
After the song ended, the first-years followed Percy back to Gryffindor Tower.
Oren lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling while communicating with the system in his mind.
System, check in!
Check-in successful. Received four throw pillows.
"Oren, do you know Professor Snape?" Harry asked, lying sprawled on his bed with one hand over his stuffed belly.
For a moment, Oren was dazed. There were three more people in the dorm now, and he was still not used to it.
"Why bring up that old bastard in the middle of the night? What bad luck."
Everyone...
Harry said quietly, "Oren, isn't it a bit inappropriate to talk about a professor like that?"
"That old bastard? You won't say that after you've had Potions."
Ron nodded. "George and Fred told me Snape often finds all sorts of excuses to deduct Gryffindor's points."
Oren said, "Hey, little bro who raises toads, say something."
Neville said, "I don't know what to say."
Oren sat up and said to Neville, "What's your name?"
"Neville Longbottom."
"No energy. You want to sail a battleship with a voice that quiet... ahem, learn magic?"
"Neville Longbottom!"
"Good, very spirited. Sleep!"
Harry and Ron rolled their eyes. Oren was at it again.
Neville, now wide awake from shouting, stared at the ceiling with a bewildered expression. He could not sleep, absolutely could not sleep.
The next day.
"Today's first lesson is History of Magic." Oren looked like an older brother lecturing them. "Do you know the essence of History of Magic?"
"No." The other three dormmates shook their heads in unison.
"You need good sleep quality." With that, Oren gave each of them a throw pillow.
Harry, Ron, Neville???
Everyone arrived at the classroom. As soon as Oren sat down, Hermione hugged a thick book, squeezed Neville aside, and sat next to him.
"Oren, did you know the Undetectable Extension Charm isn't allowed to be used privately?"
"But it's convenient."
"But the Ministry of Magic forbids people from using it without permission!"
"How can anyone learn magic properly by listening to those vermin at the Ministry of Magic?"
"If you're discovered, you'll be arrested and expelled!!"
"What are you afraid of? If the sky falls, Dumbledore will hold it up."
"What about after you graduate!!"
Oren rolled his eyes. Was she trying to argue for the sake of arguing? Graduation was still seven years away. Within five years, he would make the Ministry of Magic beg him with tears in their eyes not to cause them trouble.
Seeing that Oren was completely ignoring her, the young witch launched into a rapid-fire ideological education lesson.
He had never expected it, truly never expected it, but Hermione had filled the void left by not having an ideological education class today.
Only Professor Binns's arrival interrupted Hermione's endlessly chattering mouth. While everyone was still shocked by the ghost professor, Oren took out a throw pillow, lay down, and went straight to sleep.
That outrageous move left the little lions around him dumbfounded, while Hermione furiously unleashed a barrage of words at him.
Oren did not pay any attention to Hermione's strange talk about deductions and the like.
Within five minutes, a large number of little wizards had fallen asleep. Hermione herself was nodding off from exhaustion.
When class ended, Oren stretched lazily, looked around, and shook Hermione awake.
"Stop sleeping, Hermione. Class is over. If you want to sleep, go back to the dorm."
Hermione wiped away a bit of drool after waking up. Realizing that she had actually fallen asleep in class, she hugged her book in shame and shot off like a charging beaver, vanishing in an instant.
"Tsk." Oren was not nearly as gentle with Harry and Ron behind him. He immediately gave each of them a hard slap.
"Wake up. Stop sleeping. Want to go to the Library and read?"
The two newly awakened boys shook their heads like rattles.
Oren...
Leaving those two useless fellows behind, he headed toward the Library.
Hermione said, "Oren, why are you standing outside the Library?"
"Hi, didn't I sneak into the Restricted Section to read and get thrown out?"
"How could you sneak in..."
Oren interrupted Hermione's spellcasting. "Stop, stop, stop. I'm going to find Headmaster Dumbledore and have him give me a pass."
"The headmaster won't give a rule-breaking person like you a pass." With that, the young witch huffed and walked into the Library.
Headmaster's Office
"Headmaster Dumbledore! Headmaster Dumbledore!"
"What is it, Oren? Has something happened?" Dumbledore swallowed a mouthful of tea-flavored syrup.
"Headmaster, I need a pass for the Restricted Section. Madam Pince and I argued based on reason. You should know she's impossible to persuade... ah, no, I mean she's dutiful and dedicated."
With the Dark magic knowledge Oren currently possessed, the things in the Restricted Section could be used as bedtime reading for children.
"All right." Dumbledore wrote out a piece of parchment and handed it to Oren.
"My child, I recommend that you read some books on alchemy."
"Got it, Headmaster. Is this parchment permanent? How about lending me the headmaster's seal?"
Dumbledore!!! Today he wanted the headmaster's seal. What would he want tomorrow? Tsk, Dumbledore did not even dare think about it.
"Remember, my child, don't experiment carelessly. At the very least, don't conduct experiments in private."
"Got it, Headmaster." Oren waved the parchment in his hand with his back to Dumbledore.
Inside the Library.
Holding an alchemy book marked with the Restricted Section's symbol, Oren stood across from the young witch and waved it around.
"My goodness, how did you do that?" Hermione lifted her head from a pile of books and asked in surprise.
"I don't know. I just said a word to Headmaster Dumbledore." Oren spoke carelessly. "Maybe I'm Headmaster Dumbledore's favorite student."
The disbelieving young witch ran to Madam Pince. Before long, she returned with her head hanging dejectedly.
Oren flipped through Hermione's pile of books. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. They're all too ordinary. Their value isn't even a tenth of the books in the Restricted Section."
Ignoring the young witch gritting her teeth, Oren ran off after showing off.
Back in the common room, he sat beside Harry and Ron. The two were in a very strange state.
"What's wrong with you two?"
"Peeves pulled my nose," Ron said, covering it.
"Hehehe."
"What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing. I just thought of something funny."
Harry said, "We also ran into Filch near the fourth-floor corridor. He threatened to lock us in the dungeons. Luckily, Professor Quirrell happened to pass by and helped us out."
"How boring. I really wanted to see you two sing Tears Behind Bars in the dungeon."
Harry, Ron... what the hell were they supposed to sing???
Oren ignored those two useless guys and began reading the alchemy book in his hands.
Bang! Hermione returned to the common room, sat across from Oren, and heavily slammed the thick book in her hands onto the table.
"Why can you take books from the Restricted Section out of the Library when Madam Pince didn't stop you?"
Oren gave the young witch an eye roll, too lazy even to brush her off.
Hermione stared at Oren for quite a while, seemingly trying to see whether he had three heads or six arms to receive such special treatment.
After staring for a while, Oren was not anything special. Maybe he was pretty—cross that out—handsome.
The young witch also took out a book and began reading. Oren raised an eyebrow. Was this little witch trying to compete with him through studying?
The intense aura of top students made Harry and Ron feel like they were sitting on pins and needles.
Harry said, "Um, you two keep reading. Ron's Scabbers looks like he's about to give birth. I'll go back with him and take a look."
Ron gave Harry a look. Brothers for life.
The two fled in panic, while Oren and Hermione studied competitively until curfew.
