Background / History
Dugu Yan is Dugu Bo's only granddaughter. Her parents died when she was young, while her grandfather withheld the cause of their deaths from her. Qin Moyu later identifies the Dugu family's condition as a hereditary toxin accumulating within the meridians and gradually eroding the body—an inherited defect connected to the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Martial Soul 99.
Before meeting Qin Moyu, Dugu Yan repeatedly tried to persuade Dugu Bo not to trust Tang San. She was frustrated when her grandfather befriended Tang San, accepted his hidden weapons, and became an honorary adviser to Shrek Academy despite her warnings 48. Her distrust deepened after Tang San stripped the Icefire Yin Yang Well of its Immortal Herbs without considering the Dugu family’s needs 54 55.
With Xue Ke's help, Dugu Yan approached Qin Moyu and offered to recommend him to Heaven Dou Royal Academy. She valued both his willingness to address her martial soul defect and his opposition to Tang San 54 55. After Qin Moyu recognized the severity of her condition, she directly asked him for treatment, willing to pay any price for a cure 99.
Dugu Yan later confessed her love to Qin Moyu and became his girlfriend. She formally introduced him to Dugu Bo as the boyfriend she had chosen, earning her grandfather's immediate approval 100 105.
Appearance
Dugu Yan is a beautiful, slender young woman with dark- or forest-green eyes. She is associated with light-green coloration and often visibly blushes when flustered around Qin Moyu 48 99 105.
- Dark-green / forest-green eyes 99 105
- Light-green figure and jade-green aesthetic associated with her serpent Martial Soul 48
- Described by Qin Moyu as especially spirited and beautiful as a child 94
- Frequently acts openly affectionate after entering a relationship with Qin Moyu 102 105
Personality
Dugu Yan is perceptive, emotionally direct, and fiercely loyal to the people she considers family. Unlike Dugu Bo, she does not accept Tang San’s professed goodwill at face value; Tang San’s treatment of the Icefire Yin Yang Well convinces her that he is unworthy of trust 54 55.
Her illness leaves her vulnerable and desperate for a solution, yet she is not passive. She takes the initiative to recruit Qin Moyu, confronts Yu Tianheng when he interferes with her choices, and boldly confesses to Qin Moyu despite knowing he already has a girlfriend 54 95 100.
Dugu Yan is deeply protective of Dugu Bo. When he offers to abandon his own treatment for her sake, she tearfully refuses and insists that they must both survive 106. She also understands Qin Moyu’s mischievous side quickly and chooses to support him even when he deliberately pushes Dugu Bo to confront his regret over Tang San 106.

Myriad Poisons Codex

- Third stage: Grants immunity to toxins across the entire timeline, described as absolute poison invulnerability 110
