As Yin Hongye shifted his stance, Blood Infant Douluo was the first to pounce.
The crying blood shadow around him suddenly swelled, transforming into a gigantic infant's face. It opened its toothless mouth and bit down at the head on Yin Hongye's left.
Mental sound waves were completely ineffective against Yin Hongye. He did not panic in the slightest, raising one of his eight arms and flinging out a golden brick.
The golden brick traced a straight line through the air like a burning meteor, striking the infant's face squarely between the brows.
The blood shadow let out a shriek sharp enough to pierce eardrums, then shattered into a rain of blood that fell from the sky.
Blood Infant Douluo froze in midair.
He looked down at his chest, where a bowl-sized hole had appeared. Its edges were charred black, and no blood flowed out because the Karmic Fire had instantly burned it dry.
"How could you possibly be this..." He opened his mouth, unable to believe he had been killed so easily.
Then he fell from the sky like a charred piece of wood, smashing into the ground and breaking into several pieces.
Yin Hongye did not look at him again. The head on his right turned toward Netherworld Lightning Douluo, its eyes reflecting black lightning arcs like a raging storm.
Netherworld Lightning Douluo's thunder had already struck.
There were nine bolts in total, each as thick as a water barrel. Countless tiny skeletal faces twisted within the black lightning—the resentment of those he had killed.
Yin Hongye's two right-side arms moved at once.
One sword swept horizontally, while one spear thrust forward.
The sword light cleaved through the lightning, and the remaining arcs were all absorbed by his battle armor.
Netherworld Lightning Douluo froze for an instant.
And that instant was enough.
Yin Hongye's middle head suddenly turned toward him, facing him directly, its lips curling into a smile.
The spear shot forth like a dragon, piercing through Netherworld Lightning Douluo's brow and bursting out through the back of his skull, trailing a cloud of black smoke.
Netherworld Lightning Douluo's eyes remained open, but his body was already falling backward.
Skeleton Douluo was the last one.
His martial soul was a colossal skeleton, ghostly green soul fire flickering in its eye sockets.
Yin Hongye did not dodge. One of his eight arms hurled out the golden ring. It spun and expanded in midair, slipping around the skeleton's neck before tightening and exploding.
A dull boom rang out, like a ripe watermelon falling from a great height.
Three corpses. Three Titled Douluos. Less than ten seconds had passed from the moment they attacked to the moment they hit the ground.
Yin Hongye stood where he was, still in his three-headed, eight-armed form. He turned and looked toward Dark Hummingbird.
The ninety-eighth-rank Hyper Douluo had already retreated thirty zhang. He gripped the Bee-Tail Sting tightly, his knuckles white—not from fear, but from something more primal: a creature's instinct when facing its natural predator.
"One left," Yin Hongye said.
The voices of his three heads overlapped, like three people speaking at once, yet also like one voice echoing.
Dark Hummingbird did not retreat. At this point, the evil soul masters' side had already lost its balance of power.
He knew he could not retreat. Yin Hongye, clad in four-word battle armor and in this state, was stronger than him.
"Damn it, this ability is disgusting." Dark Hummingbird felt the flames scorching his body, leaving him weak all over.
"You know my ability is disgusting, yet you still came here to die!"
Yin Hongye took two steps forward. The weapons in his eight hands shifted positions: twin swords in front, spears behind, with the golden brick and golden ring hovering at his sides. "Do you really think I'm young and easy to bully?"
Dark Hummingbird said no more. The Bee-Tail Sting's attack speed surged to its limit, the short sword weaving a purple-black net through the air. Every strike aimed straight for a vital point, moving so fast that it was nearly impossible to follow with the naked eye.
A ninety-eighth-rank Hyper Douluo fighting at full strength created sword light so dense that even rain could not fall through it.
Yin Hongye did not retreat. All eight arms moved together.
The twin swords crossed to block, and the clanging collisions melded into one continuous ring as sparks scattered everywhere. A spear stabbed through the gaps, forcing Dark Hummingbird to change his moves.
The golden brick hovered overhead, ready to crash down at any moment.
The golden ring spun around his body, blocking the fine stingers that slipped through.
Dark Hummingbird's sword was fast, but Yin Hongye's eight hands were faster. Every block landed perfectly, and every counterattack targeted a vital point.
His three-headed, eight-armed form left him without a blind spot. The three heads shared their vision, while the eight hands each fulfilled their own role, like a precise killing machine.
"You're already an evil soul master, yet you still haven't reached the limit of a Limit Douluo? Have you been slacking off in your cultivation?" Yin Hongye's voice came from all three heads at once, carrying an overlapping echo. "Looks like your potential is nothing special either!"
Dark Hummingbird's sword momentum faltered.
And that instant was enough.
The spear in Yin Hongye's right hand flew from his grasp, spinning toward Dark Hummingbird's escape route. Dark Hummingbird twisted aside to evade it, but the golden brick was already waiting on his left.
Smack—!
The golden brick slammed into the back of his head, dull and decisive.
Dark Hummingbird staggered forward a step and spat out blood. Before it could reach the ground, the Karmic Fire evaporated it.
Before he could steady himself, Yin Hongye had already closed in.
The twin swords slashed out in a cross. Fiery arcs carved two overlapping lines through the darkness. Dark Hummingbird raised his sword to block, and the Bee-Tail Sting collided with the twin swords with a piercing screech of metal.
But a third sword thrust upward from below, while the fourth hand passed a spear around from behind—
Dark Hummingbird lowered his head to look at the spear tip protruding from his chest. Black-red blood ran down the shaft, burning into a wisp of blue smoke in the flames.
"You..."
"Is this your strength? What a disappointment!" Yin Hongye mocked, though that injury alone was far from enough to kill Dark Hummingbird.
At that critical instant, Dark Hummingbird had immediately evaded the fatal blow.
Yin Hongye withdrew his spear and retreated.
Dark Hummingbird seized the chance to rise into the air. Like a startled bird, he shot backward thirty zhang. Blood poured from the hole in his chest, and he pressed a hand over it, condensing soul power into a membrane over the wound to temporarily stop the bleeding.
"Trying to run?" Yin Hongye's middle head tilted slightly.
"This isn't running." Dark Hummingbird's voice was hoarse. "It's a strategic retreat."
Yin Hongye smiled as lotuses drifted down. His use of this martial soul had mostly remained limited to Karmic Fire and defense; he had made no further developments in other areas.
As for his two swords, he had only cultivated them to the level of a Sword God before stagnating. His spear techniques were ordinary as well, unable to compare to Guan Yue or Yun Ming.
The next moment, lotus petals began to fall. Wherever they landed, terrifying Red Lotus Karmic Fire erupted, killing every living thing it touched.
Heaven Dou City's downtown instantly became a land of death.
Dark Hummingbird began to dodge in panic as well. He had only just avoided one petal when a red lotus bloomed in the empty air behind him.
The moment he touched the lotus, it exploded. Scorching flames ignited his handsome face. He immediately used soul power to suppress them, but half of his face had already been disfigured.
"Damn it!"
Dark Hummingbird instantly realized that he had completely become the prey. His only remaining advantage was speed, which meant there was only one thing he could do.
Run.
Yin Hongye did not rashly pursue him. His speed could not match that of an agility-attack soul master. Instead, he naturally shifted his attention toward Ghost Emperor. If he could leave even a small wound on Ghost Emperor, his record would surpass Sky-Cleaving Douluo's in his youth.
My life, Yin Hongye, is no less than anyone's!
The ninth soul ring beneath his feet lit up at that very moment.
