Background / History

Safi'jiiva was an unrecorded Ancient Dragon whose name was established after the Investigation Team sent its data to the Old World. Its danger level restricted the initial investigation mission to the Great Leader alone 153.

It is an unusually persistent predator of Ancient Dragons. For roughly twenty years, it pursued targets including Kirin, Steel Dragons, Teostra, and the Veteran King Iceborne Kushala Daora, often suffering severe defeats or losing its prey. Its first successful Elder Dragon-class kill was the Chaos Caos Dragon, whose corpse it fiercely guarded as its first major feast 207.

After joining other Ancient Dragons against the Dalamud Dragon, Safi'jiiva again lost its intended meal when the corpse fell into Miasma Valley and was taken by Kushala Daora 219 221. It later became involved with Nisegene, allowing the parasites to attach to it before reversing the energy flow and consuming them for the Life Energy they had gathered 377.

A prolonged conflict with Luo Yun severely depleted Safi'jiiva's reserves. It withdrew from active Elder Dragon hunting and survived by preying on veteran monsters in the Dragon Crystal Land until it could recover 450.

After feeding on the Skeletal Dragon, Safi'jiiva regained vitality, evolved part of its spines into Adamant Thorns, and reproduced asexually. The resulting offspring was born from a chest spine and rapidly grew under Safi'jiiva's harsh training 456 457.

Safi'jiiva later occupied the Valley of Whispers, where it absorbed Earth Vein Energy to restore itself during battle with the Investigation Team. Luo Yun ultimately intercepted it, deprived it of its energy advantage, and defeated it in a final battle that destroyed the valley. Luo Yun then consumed Safi'jiiva's heart and claimed the valley as new territory 555 558 561 562.

Appearance

Safi'jiiva is a heavily built, melee-oriented Ancient Dragon distinguished by a regenerative shell and dense thorn growth. By its later appearances, it had grown to approximately 30 meters and possessed silvery-gray Adamant Thorns 476 530.

Despite its aggressive instincts, it is not mindlessly reckless. It abandons fights when the energy cost outweighs the reward, avoids targets it cannot defeat, and can recognize tactical disadvantages 152 296 402. Its battle experience also allows it to learn opponents’ patterns and develop counters during prolonged combat 559.

Its reproductive instinct acts as a major restraint on its behavior. Safi'jiiva protects and feeds its offspring, but its parenting is brutal: its first lesson to its newborn is deliberately inflicted pain, followed by combat training designed to force the young dragon to strengthen its thorns 456 457.

Discovery and Early Hunts

Safi'jiiva first draws attention as an unknown Ancient Dragon sensitive to abnormal Life Energy. Its sighting in the Great Antlion Desert prompts the Great Leader to begin tracking it, though the pursuit fails when it returns to the Dragon Crystal Land 151 153 157.

It clashes briefly with Luo Yun after Luo Yun absorbs refined Life Energy. Neither side commits to a decisive fight, and both retreat after an aerial collision 152.

Elder Dragon Predator

Safi'jiiva battles the Chaos Caos Dragon, kills it with its ultimate dive, and finally gains an Elder Dragon-class feast after decades of unsuccessful hunting 205 207.

It later joins the pursuit of the Dalamud Dragon but fails to secure the corpse after it falls into Miasma Valley 219 221.

Nisegene Exploitation

In the swamp, Safi'jiiva discovers that Nisegene can function as living energy collectors. It allows swarms to feed on hosts, then drains the parasites and their stolen Life Energy for itself 377.

Its use of Nisegene alarms the Investigation Team, which links Safi'jiiva to the spreading infestation and treats its involvement as a major ecological threat 389 390.

Reproduction and Offspring

After consuming the Skeletal Dragon, Safi'jiiva gains enough energy to reproduce. It forms an embryo from a chest spine, produces a one-meter-long offspring after a week, and begins raising it through pain-based conditioning and combat 456 457.

Valley of Whispers

Safi'jiiva becomes the primary threat in the Valley of Whispers, where it withstands a large-scale Investigation Team hunt. It uses regeneration, Earth Vein Energy absorption, Dragon Charges, and Crimson Emperor Azure Star to inflict heavy casualties and repeatedly recover from damage 553 554 555.

When it attempts to retreat, Luo Yun intercepts it. Safi'jiiva adapts to Luo Yun’s techniques and enters an energy activation state, but loses access to Earth Vein replenishment while Luo Yun receives Ley Line support 556 559.

Safi'jiiva’s final Crimson Emperor Azure Star is absorbed and amplified by Luo Yun’s Shattered Meteor. The resulting explosion devastates the Valley of Whispers and leaves Safi'jiiva mortally wounded; Luo Yun consumes its heart afterward 561 562.
