The enraged Ork seized two lizard creatures by the necks and smashed their heads together with brutal force.
To Ur, the sight of their skulls bursting looked like grenades exploding.
The entire attack was over within a minute. Beast corpses lay scattered across the blackened jungle. Ur remembered that he had never encountered creatures like these the last time he came here.
"Boss, what're these? Never heard ya mention 'em."
"Dunno. It ain't been that long..."
Ur frowned. He was not good with numbers, but at most, only a two-digit number of days had passed since his last visit. A whole new species should not have appeared out of nowhere.
And these creatures were truly bizarre—like lizards with human limbs. When they died, they gave off a foul stench, along with an incredibly strong smell of blood...
"They're dead. We'll follow their trail and find their nest. I reckon something ain't right."
Ur had come here to find a hidden human fortification.
The fortification was enormous, large enough to hold tens of thousands of people, and its location was extremely concealed.
There were quite a few fortifications like this along the Gamel-Valley line. If the Orks broke through the riverbank defenses, the defenders who could not retreat in time would scatter into these positions, reorganize, and launch counterattacks. At critical moments, they could even threaten the Orks' rear. They were a vital part of flexible defense.
Ur intended to find it and mark its location. The battle banner he carried was for exactly that purpose. It bore a signal transmitter that could guide Gold Tooth's massive naval weapons to bombard it, clearing the way for the coming offensive.
