Background / History

[Lamp] is one of the gods connected to the world’s supernatural attributes and Radiance. Its attribute is associated with reason, compassion, leadership, knowledge, and resistance to mental contamination. In the Federation’s earlier era, deceased [Lamp]-aligned extraordinary beings left behind fragments or remnants of consciousness; these fragments remained dormant until supernatural energy returned 36 193.

Like the other gods, [Lamp] maintains Agents by descending into Transcendents closest to its attribute. The host ordinarily retains her own identity, but [Lamp] can take direct control when necessary. This arrangement is presented as a safeguard for maintaining balance, though Xu Zhi regards it as another form of divine control 432.

Before openly revealing itself, [Lamp] acted through an Agent who guided Xu Zhi’s actions around the Lost Land and the underground talent-circuit laboratory. When the Agents were hunted, its Agent secretly met Xu Zhi, gave her an array-disk puzzle, and warned that she was not yet strong enough to bear certain secrets 408.

Later, [Lamp] appeared to Xu Zhi directly through an avatar and admitted that it had been the Agent she met. Wearied by the gods’ prolonged struggle over Ascension, it asked Xu Zhi to end the conflict before it destroyed the world and condemned its inhabitants to further suffering 431.

Appearance

[Lamp] appears through female avatars or hosts. Its divine manifestations are marked by pale-gold light, golden eyes, and [Lamp]-specific rule symbols.

Personality

[Lamp] is rational, restrained, and deeply weary of the divine conflict. Unlike gods consumed by the pursuit of Ascension, it prioritizes preventing further suffering among living beings, even when doing so requires accepting its own dissipation 431 444.

Its compassion does not prevent it from making severe choices. After trusting its prophecy and concluding that Xu Zhi was the only viable solution, it obeyed Xu Zhi’s order to incapacitate the weakened gods so that Xu Zhi could erase them by devouring their circuits 443 444.

Guidance through the Agent

[Lamp]’s Agent covertly assists Xu Zhi during the conflict surrounding the Lost Land and the talent-circuit laboratory. Before being defeated, she gives Xu Zhi an array-disk puzzle and warns her that knowledge can be dangerous before one is strong enough to bear it 408.

Revelation and the Ascension Conflict

[Lamp] later reveals that the Agent was its avatar. It explains that the gods have made multiple arrangements concerning Radiance and Ascension, but it has become convinced that continued conflict will lead only to universal destruction 431.

It agrees not to directly stop Xu Zhi and instead monitors [Cup] at Xu Zhi’s request. Though it understands Xu Zhi may ultimately kill it, [Lamp] accepts the risk for the sake of ending the wider conflict 432.

Final Battle in the Mansus

When Xu Zhi begins devouring divine circuitry, [Lamp] honors their agreement. It attacks the weakened gods with rationality-suppressing golden threads so Xu Zhi can consume them, openly choosing Xu Zhi’s plan over the other gods’ pursuit of Ascension 443 444.

[Cup] responds by personally attacking [Lamp], using precognition-defeating force and controlling Heart and Forge as flesh-and-blood puppets. [Lamp] is eventually restrained while Xu Zhi races toward Radiance 445 447.

Dissipation

At the decisive stage, [Lamp] gives its energy and divine circuitry to the Game Console. As it fades, it rejects the idea that this is true death, stating that it will remain in the world through every flickering lamp 448.
