Duke and Vivian had both readied their weapons, watching the situation outside and prepared to fight at any moment.
Neither of them went out. They stayed in their room; going out to investigate out of curiosity at a time like this was clearly not a wise choice.
On the deck, Captain Black stood at the bow with a grave expression. Water sounds kept rising from beneath the surrounding sea, indicating that many creatures were rapidly approaching.
Several sailors carried over several large chunks of cured beef, along with a barrel of wine.
Black directed several sailors to throw everything overboard, then said in standard Morian, "Honorable Sea Folk, these are gifts for you. We mean no offense. We will leave these waters as soon as possible."
After speaking, he stared intently at the sea, hoping for a response.
They did not dare set sail before receiving an answer. If any Sea Folk were injured by their ship, they could forget about leaving.
Captain Black had sailed the seas for many years and encountered quite a few situations like this.

Normally, the Sea Folk would not make things difficult for those aboard after seeing that statue. Yet for some unknown reason, so many Sea Folk had surrounded the ship today.
Captain Black received no response from the Sea Folk. All he saw was an arrow formed from seawater shooting toward him.
He was a Great Knight himself and immediately reacted, dodging aside.
But the sailor beside him was not so fortunate. The water arrow pierced straight through his head.
Then countless water arrows shot up from the sea below. The people on deck either rolled away or raised their weapons
