Background / History
Acosta Family
Vivian is Count Hardy's youngest and most beloved daughter. Her mother died not long after giving birth to her, and Vivian's relentless cultivation was driven in part by a desire not to disappoint the sacrifices made by both her parents. 13 41 356
Count Hardy recognized her unusually high mental-power potential early and had her learn Morian in preparation for a possible future in wizardry. Before becoming a Great Knight, her mental-power reading was 2.8—just below the third-grade threshold required to become a Wizard. 41 49
Nightingale Corps
At sixteen, Vivian was already an Official Knight and a renowned figure in Jade Province. She instructed nearly two hundred Nightingale Corps candidates in the Whale Breathing Method, while leaving routine training and management to the Corps' officers. 13 16
She noticed Duke's potential during his training, initially judged his progress harshly, then began personally cultivating him after he captured a Twilight Deer and rapidly advanced as a knight. She rewarded him and taught him her private Burning Wave Sword Art. 16 25
Moonlight Forest Incident
Vivian led a Nightingale team into Moonlight Forest to investigate the activity of a Two-Headed Ogre and its gathered humanoid creatures. When the group was ambushed, she chose to hold off the Ogre and a goblin leader so the others could escape. 35 36
She was severely injured by the Ogre's lightning spell, but returned at a critical moment to decapitate it and save Duke. Duke then carried the injured Vivian away; after they escaped by leaping from a cliff, he treated her broken ribs and fractured leg while they survived together in the forest. 37 38 40
After leaving the forest, Vivian and Duke stopped Count Santos's guards from slaughtering Yatai Village residents for false merit. She arranged for Uncle Doyle's family to relocate to Maple Hill County, using her authority as Count Hardy's daughter to secure their passage and registration. 43 44
Great Knight and Wizard Path
Vivian entered seclusion after giving Duke six Giant Whale Elixirs, then successfully advanced to Great Knight. Count Hardy publicized her breakthrough to deter hostile nobles from threatening Maple Hill County. 47 48
During Count Hardy's Spirit-Summoning Ritual, Wizard Grace accepted Vivian into the Thorn Holy Tower on the basis of her fourth-grade wizard aptitude. Vivian refused a safe spatial passage to the West Coast so that she could accompany Duke on the far more dangerous sea voyage. Grace was moved by her decision and promised to accept her as a personal student if she arrived safely. 50 51
After reaching the West Coast, Vivian became Grace's student at Thorn Holy Tower. Her schedule was intensely demanding, but she performed exceptionally in assessments, studied even on rest days, and continued preparing for eventual advancement to a Formal Wizard. 59 69 92 133 264
Appearance
Vivian commonly presents herself as an armored knight, concealing most of her appearance beneath a helmet. Outside armor, she has golden hair and a carefully maintained noble appearance that contrasts sharply with her intimidating battlefield presence. 13 49 59 123
- Wears silver-white full-body armor forged from Starlight Ore; the set weighs roughly two hundred pounds. 13
- Usually keeps her helmet on in public, including at formal events, partly to avoid unwanted attention and dance invitations. 16 45
- Has golden hair that falls loose when she removes her helmet. 49 59
- Possesses a clear, pleasant voice compared to a nightingale's. 16
- Favors a massive battle axe roughly six feet long and weighing three hundred jin, despite her petite frame. 15
Personality
Vivian places strength above comfort, status, and convention. She wears extremely heavy armor for prolonged periods, trains with an enormous axe, and endures hardship in pursuit of greater power. Her refusal to dress conventionally for Count Hardy's ball reflects the same independence. 13 15 45
Despite her stern, armored image, Vivian is compassionate and strongly opposed to cruelty. She refused the bribery of Count Santos's guards after witnessing their murder of villagers, then personally offered survivors protection in Maple Hill County. 43 44
She is fiercely loyal to those she accepts as her own. Vivian invested resources, instruction, and time in Duke's growth, risked her opportunity at Thorn Holy Tower by asking Grace to accept him, and ultimately chose the dangerous sea journey rather than leave him to travel alone. 25 34 50 51
Abilities & Skills
Great Knight Physiology and Battle Qi
Vivian is an elite close-combat fighter whose strength, speed, and Battle Qi improved substantially after her breakthrough to Great Knight. 13 48
- Fought a Two-Headed Ogre and a goblin leader simultaneously while initially suppressing both opponents. 36

Burning Wave Sword Art
The Burning Wave Sword Art is Vivian's personal combat skill. It has four stages—beginner, proficient, master, and perfected—and teaches increasingly advanced applications of Battle Qi. 25
- Uses Battle Qi to coat and reinforce a blade, dramatically increasing its cutting power. 25
- At its perfected stage, the art can transform Battle Qi into flames. 25
- Vivian learned its foundational technique within minutes and teaches the art entirely from memory; no written manual exists. 26
- She entrusted the art to Duke on the condition that he never pass it on without her permission. 25
Wizard Aptitude and Magical Study
Vivian possesses fourth-grade wizard aptitude after becoming a Great Knight and was accepted into Thorn Holy Tower by the Third-Level Archwizard Grace. 50 69
- Can perceive and activate the Morian inscription on Duke's Enchanted Brass Ring, though doing so exhausts her. 49
- Learned Morian from childhood and later taught it to Duke. 49
- Learned the Wizard Mark spell and used an Imprint Chip to exchange marks with Duke for mental communication. 69
- Studies potion-making and alchemy as part of Thorn Holy Tower's compulsory curriculum; she passed the Potion-maker Apprentice assessment with a written score of 652. 123 124
