Azman withdrew his gaze. Without greeting anyone, he turned and walked out of the hall.

His back disappeared into the darkness beyond the doors. The grayish-white mist along the edges of his black robe left faint traces in the air before quickly dissipating.

No one in the hall spoke. No one found it inappropriate that the dean had left so abruptly; there was only boundless shock.

After a long while, a gray-robed second-ring Wizard spoke softly.

"The dean hasn't attended an event like this in a long time."

The person beside him nodded.
