Several more months passed within the small world.
North of Death Island, Godspawn hovered within that grayish-white band of light.
It was quieter than it had been a few months ago. Its wings were folded shut, its body leaning slightly forward as though listening for something.
It no longer shifted positions frequently, adjusting its angle only once a day. Sometimes, it did not move for two or three days.
The folds of the spacetime turbulence churned before it, splitting apart, healing, then splitting again.
Godspawn no longer tracked the shape of every fold. It merely watched, letting those chaotic energies flow past it.
Fine golden patterns occasionally lit up across its body, then dimmed again after a few breaths. It was unconsciously imitating those energy fluctuations, the traces faint and intermittent.
The Chaos Dragon lay at the edge of Death Island, its head resting on its forepaws, its golden eyes half-closed.
Every so often, it would lift its eyelids and glance in Godspawn's direction, then lower them again.
Once, it spoke in a deep voice. "Kid, you've stood at the edge of a breakthrough for too long. Chaos won't come looking for you. You have to go into it."
Godspawn did not answer, but a narrow gap opened between its folded wings.
A few days later, Godspawn flew before Lynn and hovered several steps away without landing.
Its voice came from within its body, reaching Lynn's consciousness directly.
"Great Master, I need to enter the spacetime turbulence to break through."
Lynn looked up from behind his desk at Godspawn and paused for a moment.
"Spacetime turbulence? Are you sure?"
Godspawn nodded. "I've stood at the edge for a long time. If I keep standing here, I won't gain anything new."
"If I fail, I may dissipate in the turbulence. But
